Is it worth adjusting these ? Has any one tried it and does it improve
the engine sound at all ? I've not adjusted them in 20k Miles !

Personally, I like to check the oil level with a song in my heart, and a
    smile on my face.

    Maybe that's just me.

I do it too. I relish oiling my chain as well.

Exhaust or mechanical type sounds? Adjusting can make both sound better,
depending if there are other nasty things like worn / pitted cams or
burned out valves to contend with. A new air filter, plugs and a carb
ballance would be good to do at the same time, if not already sorted.

Do it. Its not difficult if you've got a deep drop 8mm[1] spanner, 3-4
    hours max.

thanks, that's the sort of answer I was looking for, 4 hrs well spent
maybe, And yes I do check my oil every day ! ( Unlike when I had my
cb400n when I never ever changed or checked it because I hated that
    bike !)

BTW The book says check every 200 miles but this must be a mis-print !
