Have a 1991 CBR1000F with 58,000 km. Did my valve clearances (personally for the first time) today and followed both the w/shop manual and this following web site. Web site was fantastic confidence booster because of the photos and insight. http://gonzo-home.com/cbrmaint.htm#Valves Took me 5 hours - tedious and backbreaking - but all is now in spec. FYI - after 24,000km since last checked (should be 12,000km ) - only 2 of 16 valves were out of spec. One Inlet should be 0.10 (+/- 0.02mm) but was 0.06mm. One Exhaust should be 0.18 (+/- 0.02mm) but was 0.21mm. I'm happy with the result because ... I now know and am confident the clearances are in spec (as against relying on others). It's a confidence booster when riding the bike that you know exactly what is happening beneath you. All other CBR1000F riders - have a go! Now I'm on to learn about Carb Synchronisation............. anyone in Melbourne with any personal experience? =========================================================================================
