    Hiya,
Ive got a 99 CBR600F, this last week ive noticed a sort of knocking
sound at tickover, it gets faster with the engine revs, its not very
loud and i can only hear it upto around 3000rpm, the bike runs fine no
problems, any idea what it might be?

    thanks for any help

You will only be permitted to buy this motorcycle for a tenner,
Auvache, if you don't moan about how uncomfortable it is.

No, are you thinking off the infamous honda clutch rumble?
also seems worse when its warmed up

A great bike for pillions. When Mick got off he didn't stop buzzing for
hours. I think he enjoyed it. It hurt my arse though.

It's fucked. If someone offers you a tenner for it, accept before they
    change their mind.

Alternatively, clean it, put some fresh oil in it and flog it on eBay.

  14. Sounds like a sticking camchain tensioner. Common CBR Six fault and easy
    & cheap to remedy.

You mean they're no further forward than they were with the faulty
cam-chain tensioner on the CBX550, after all these years?

Heh - actually I never had any problem with my G5 camchain or
tensioner, although I was aware that they were prone to being
    problematic.

Mind you, I had a perfectly good GPz305 that never gave me any grief
too, which going by TOG's comments is bloody rare.

I did have to replace to tensioners on the CBX though.
Well, I suppose if people keep buying the bikes and putting up with it
there isn't much of an incentive for the Honda guys to put there arses
into gear and get it sorted.

Years ago, when Honda did a warranty modification to an engine, such as
a camchain mod, they'd make it known by putting a centre punch mark next
to the engne number. I saw a G5 with 21 punch marks once, and it sounded
as rough as a badger's arse. My mate who owned it threw it in the local
nuthole[1] and claimed off his theft insurance.

[1] Nutholes are large lake type things around here. They are where the
brickworks have dug out the clay for brick production and then filled
them in with water to make water-skiing lakes. They are very deep and
big enough to race power-boats around. Stewartby being one of the ones
that used to be used for international events.

We called them knotholes in Peterborough, 'cos that's where they got the
    clay knots from...

A lot of them were filled with flyash from the kilns and now they're
    building houses on them FFS!
