    The river sand is certainly softer than the permafrost. I did 843km in 9.25
    hours, yeah, that is a bit soft :)

  6. No permafrost this year Gary. It was -10 for the people on Friday night,
    but when the bulk of the crowd showed on Saturday, it only got down to -1,
    very mild. The puddles didnt even freeze. We had the honour of the
    magnesium VW crankcase in our fire this year (a tradition by the organiser).
    Very effective lighting.

    I think the rally was a week too early.

    wee bit north.

    Ahhh. Qld! Beautiful one day, bloody freezing the next.
