Does anybody know if there is an online source of microfiches for Honda
    CB250RS ?
And if so, where is it? I've tried googling but come up with nowt so
    far.

    Cheers

The ukrm pass-around 250RS has (or at least had) with it a full hard copy of
the official Honda documentation with it when I passed it on to Lozzo.
Assuming that he passed it on and then it was passed on again, the current
owner, if I could remember who it is, might be able to scan the bits you
want or tell you part numbers etc.

I am the current owner of said tart of a bike. There wasn't any docs
afair, Its all in the garage at the moment, I'll have a dig tonight. It
had a quick run round the block the other night but I couldn't get the
lights working so I'll have to have a shufty at them.

    Thanx Guys.
I've already got a Honda factory workshop manual for it [1], and a
    Haynes BOL.
I was just after the parts fiches for the exploded views of the various
bits for curiosity sake more than anything.
Not desparate for any info - yet. I haven't started taking it to bits
(I need a fresh set of batteries for the digi-cam before I start that).

Its a 1981 250RSA (same as yours) BTW.
I bought it new, sold it after a year bought back ten years later then
used it as a garden ornament for 12 years or so. Now, following the
I've decided it'll be a "good idea" (snigger) to get it going
    again.....

[1] If you want a copy of it let me know, I'll stick it through the
    photocopier.
You can have it for the price of the postage.

    Cheers

The photocopied workshop manual is residing with me in the UKRM Manual
Depository. I don't have a parts listing for the 250RS.

If you'd like to borrow it then please say so, but tbh the pictures are
so bad that a Haynes is a better bet.

WRT the lights, check the fuses. The fusebox never was that clever and
there may be some green corrosion on the back of it. You'll find it
behind the r/hand sidepanel. ISTR I had to do some kind of lash up to
get them through the first MOT I took it for and never bothered to do a
more permanent job over the next 3 years/50K miles because it seemed to
hold up ok. This is assuming that MattG didn't touch the electrics, in
which case you may as well dig a big hole and bury the poor thing before
    it costs you your sanity.

I've got an original copy of the Honda book, but I don't think it'll deliver
    better copies of the photos.
If it does, you're welcome to a new copy.
Plus : I've got the electric start supplement - if you ain't got it and want
it, I'll do you a copy anyway.
(I'll stand the postage seeing as its a communal library)
50K? How many mile has it done FFS??!!
I thought the cylinder heads gave up at about 20K.
    (Mine's done a genuine 13K from new)

I think I sold mine at an indicated 48K or so, which I'm not sure I
believe TBH - it looked way too scruffy for the mileage when I bought
it. The engine was absolutely fine, though I had to replace the
alternator at some stage during my ownership.

At the last count about 192K, it got a replacement engine at 160K
because I blew the original up on the way to work down the M25 at about
90mph on the clock. I was doing 100 miles a day on it 5 days a week for
about 9 months with zero maintenance. I think it lasted quite well.

    Impressive
    1. How much abuse the bike took.
    2. How much abuse you dished out on it!
    :)

So they will soak mileages up then - not that i intend to use mine that
    much

I've got half an idea to rebuild in 1960s Cafe Racer stylee.
(I've seen this really really gorgeous alooy petrol tank in the Unity
Equipe catalogue and I'm hell bent on building a bike that I can bolt
    it onto.

...and that was after I had owned it for around 6 years and used it for
communting, seeing how fast I could go on dual carriageways, two-up round
trips of over 300 miles etc etc etc..

As long as the oil level is checked regularly, they take the abuse very well
indeed, esp compared with similar vintage 250 twins like the Superdream and
    GSX.

Of course bits do drop off and oil does leak but it's all 'character' innit?

Is that the OED definition of communting? I like that word,
I believe I am going to start using this as often as I can
    in conversations...
