It's big, and red (or white), and heavy, and I like it more with each
    passing mile (72).

First impression, as you climb aboard is of height. Then width, then
    weight.

This impression fades once on the move. It's no sports bike, by a very
    wide margin.

The exhaust is muted, though it would appear less so on a '09 bike,
than the asthmatic '06 I tested a fortnight ago. Feet up pull aways
can be achieved with around 1500 revs on board. Whilst running in[1],
I've been keeping it down to 6k in first, 5k in second and third, and
not bothering with worrying the revs about 4th and 5th.

I'm as much running myself in as the bike, anyway, and have the steady
head of a paranoid meerkat. Every time someone comes past, my instinct
is that they're going to drive into me. It's got better over the
weekend, and I'm sure it will fade in time.

Back to the bike. The motor pulls from nowhere. It's all unhurried,
and very stately, but it just "goes". 40-80 in top is a breeze.

The fairing's rubbish (okay, pointless would be fairer), the seat's
wide and comfy, it has plenty of bungy points, and the instruments are
clear and easy to read. They light up in a nice blue in the dark.

When the Baglux cover and tail rack turn up, it'll be useful, too.

It's a bit top heavy, and takes some persuading into a bend, but once
there it seems to behave well enough.

Brakes are fine, though I haven't really tested them yet. ABS is a
    reassurance.

I suspect 40% of the regulars would hate it, and 70% would say they
    do. ;)

Being a Honda, it has all the character of a cup of cold sick, but it
looks like it'll do the business for me. Which is the important bit.

I already like it more than I ever did the Blackbird.

I even gave it a polish wivva dusta before putting it away.

[1] Page 168 of the Owner's manual "avoid full throttle starts, and
    rapid acceleration". That's it.

How does it compare to Bruce's XJR1300 ?
Do be careful Bond. After a spill it's best to get back on as soon as
you can and work out the demons.
I've already nailed my colours to the mast. After the CB1100 X-11
abortion, I don't trust Mr Honda with big retros.

But what do I know, I like a big fairing, me.

    Cheers

    Paul.

Taller, I reckon, but I've never had a go on the YTCmobile.
It's also best to wait until your hand can grip a throttle properly.
The X-11 wasn't even remotely retro, you halfwit. Dobles have a blue
one in stock if you're interested.
    Exactly.

Ah, i'd have liked a go on a ZRX1200 for a proper compare. Maybe I
    will one fine CIHAGM day.
Ha, I went back and had anoter shufty. You're right, but it was big,
    and naked, and Honda.
God, it's an underpowered shed. If it could be retuned to Blackbird
strength it'd be a worthy proposition.
    :)

Sounds like it would do Champ as a bag-hauler. You don't need 200mph
performance to cart a chick across the Channel.

All true. And I'm sure it is a fine machine. For me, tho, there are
    two drawbacks:

    1. It's a Honda
    2. It's too expensive

I couldn't live with yours. It's got stonking pull, but just needs a
    nice fairing on it :)

    He already knows this.

I'd even let him borrow it on a try before you buy basis but it
appears he's worried he wouldn't be able to ride it properly.
