  1. Firstly, thanks to all that took the trouble to reply regarding the RS.

Story thus far; had generator off left of crank and centrifugal filter and
crank drive gear off r/h/s. Can't feel any play at all in the mains
(they're brand new, as is big-end).

Everything that's supposed to be there is, and everything is tightened up
    properly.

Loads of compression, all gears there, clutch works etc. Tried to feel any
play between generator and crank before removing, but can't feel anything.

Haven't removed the top-end (yet) for simple reason of if I need to get
someone to listen to it - to give a diagnosis - it obviously needs to be
running. Still sounds like big-end...anyone here ever had a new big-end
fitted and still had similar noise after??

    Thanks,

    Rick.

How did you fit the mains? Did you bang them in on their inner or outer
    edge?
No little spacers left over then.
Compression pressure within specs as measured?
What do you mean you haven't removed the top end? You did a full engine
    rebuild.
No, all mine sounded silky smooth.

Did your small end bearing get changed too?
