  2. Well, Ken, sorry, Chris, says I can't buy decent bikes on Ebay, so
obviously it didn't come from there, and he says I can't restore old
bikes, so obviously I didn't do that either.

Maybe Starship Enterprise beamed it down. ;-)

'S in the shed until the weather improves.

The streets round here stay slippy from december to march, 24/7.

I'm not risking it - spesh as CN are being silly, too.

Anyone can "restore" an old bike, whether or not they know what they
are doing though is quite another matter.

Many people dont have the ability or knowledge to do anything much
other than bolt parts together that have been refurbished by
others............thats fine, but doesnt suggest to me that the person
doing it is capable of "restoring" a bike themselves.

Which reminds me of someone I and AW knew. This berk had run his Hardly
Ableson out of oil and when in inevitable happened said something to the
    effect that aliens did it.

Well, it's sold now and will be out of my possession from next weekend.

    That leaves a Garage Vacuum.

    Hmmmmm.

Well, the XS650 can go there, I suppose, but that just leaves a Down The
    Side Of The House Vacuum.

Today I have mostly been fixing the screen I bought on Fleabay to the
XS. The seller apparently brought it over from th US himself. It's as
new, went on perfectly with no hassle or search for extra brackets and
bolts, looks good, and will hopefully keep off the windblast.

Now, I need a combined rack and small backrest...

    Wotcha.
Many moons ago - well, July 2002 to be precise, I bought a Ford 2 litre
trike project. The engine and gearbox were not all that good, but the front
end would stop and steer a bus, and that was more or less why I bought it.
For some reason I just never so much as laid a spanner on the thing in
anger. Now on the last day of the year some jolly fellow came knocking on
my door and enquired if I would like to sell the thing. Nothing odd about
that, apart from it was the same fellow I bought it off in the first place.
.. . . so it ended up going back from whence it came, and the same amount of
money changed hands. The point of all this ? - I too now have
    a garage vacuum.
Now there's a nice little classic trials BSA C15 that I've got my eye on. .
.. . . or there again, the Tiger Coloured Trike can now go and live back in
it's 'original' garage, I think it was getting fed up of being under the
    kitchen window.

My dad was at an auction sometime in the mid to late 70's to bid on a
"private" plate, as my dad was quite successful in his day he figured he
could spend quite a bit on getting the reg number he'd always wanted - JM
1 - and went to the auction, full of optimism about getting the plate and
    making himself rather happy.

The bidding started off quite low, around £250, and dad was there waiting
for the interest to start to die down a touch, when the plate was at around
£2000 he decided it was time to place his first bid, which was beaten
immediately by a gent at the back of the room, so dad kept on bidding and
the gent at the back of the room kept out bidding him. The plate was
becoming expensive by now, as bids were around the £5k mark which was around
the price of a reasonable small semi-detached house at the time. Dad upped
his courage and kept bidding until it was around £7500 at which point
someone nudged him and pointed out that the chap he was bidding against was
John Moores of Liverpool FC and Littlewoods Pools fame. Dad didn't get the
plate, but I wonder what it'd be worth if he had.
