Saw a blue one today in Tescos filling station in Sidcup. It were very very
    clean and tidy.
Reminded me of my old one, green it were, key below the tank, shiny spoked
    wheels, twin zorsts, etc etc.
Those woz the days..........17, no cares, free, single, ratarsed regularly,
riding in T shirt and Denim jacket, no gloves.........

Were my first real bike after the FS1E that was thrashed to oblivion.

Found a Super Dream on Fleabay

    Looks quite nice...................

But superdreams are shit. It's around £299.99 overpriced, too....

    What's wrong with a nice little CB250RS?

Faster, lighter, better fuel economy, "waaap-waaap" sound at low revs/high
    gear/big throttle..... :)

But would possibly look like a minimoto stuck between *your* cheeks....

My first 'big' bike on L-plates. Went to rallies all over the UK on the damn
thing and *thrashed* the tits off it. 2into1 Piper exhaust with nil baffles,
K&Ns, and eventually a well used s/h Jock Kerr 'big bore' conversion. Good
memories, but what a total bag of shite it was. The earlier K4 was a much,
    much better bike.
*Ding*, but add gravel rash, 17 points over 2 years, 7 construction & use
violations, several trips to Oxted magistrates court and inevitably a big
cam failure at 9k+rpm was its final curtain call.Snip.

    Seconded! Better handling too.
I've had two and I've still got my first one.
How many Superdreams are there around with over 190,000 miles on the clock?
(Over to you Entwisi and Lozzo!)

  5. I remember my first sighting of a nice shiny 250 Superdream - 1979 I think
it was, when I was aged fifteen or so. I remember the sound of it distinctly
because the engine sounded sewing machine smooth and I stared after it
    longingly.

I always wanted one after that and finally blagged a ride on one ten years
ago or so. What a pile of sluggish old shite.

    *Never* go back.

    Si - Still want a CX500 though :)

A mate of mine has one of these coming up as a viable rebuild project soon.
One of the first K series 250's in the country he reckons. It'll be cheapish
    too.

I think I've *really*had my fill of SOHondas. I've done my time, mainly
    despatching, with 250/400Dreams, a CX500, several K2, F1 and K6 750s,
    CB125S, CG125 (MSOHP), CB125TA, CM125, CM200, an FT500 (total, utter shite,
even by Hondas standards), even a CD175 (which was probably the best of the
lot!) I wouldn't mind a 350K4 though. They were quite a nice bike for the
    time.
Looking back to late 70s/early 80s, I really did ride some serious shite,
but they were all very cheap. The most I paid was £325 for the CX and most
of the rest were about the £100-200 mark.

Me too, had a CG125 to learn on, MSOHPR, then at various points a
    superdream, a CB650, and an ill fated CX500. I rescued an FT500 from a
farm for a mate who lost his job there, shouldn't have bothered.

    No more HONDA's for me.

Ah, but you never had an NS400. That's where you went wrong... :)

Ah well there are always exceptions to every rule. I'd love an NS400. They
are a lovely little bike. Pretty unique in the great scheme of things too.
I've never ridden one but always wanted to. The NS400 and the RG500 were
always 2 of my favourite roadgoing strokers. I must confess to having a bit
of an addiction to the smell of 2-stroke smoke, and I've not gone this long
(4 years) without at least one 2-stroke in the stable for over 25years.
I've got a bit of a yearning for another mad X7, another KX500, and maybe a
KR1s too *if* I get the space and the SO doesn't divorce me first!
Oh for a nice little secure rented industrial unit close by...........

What Sir wants is a nice NS400 with SS-conversion 500 race spec barrels and
Jolly Motos (or Stan's own pipes to suit)...[0] And a 400 for 'just
    pootling'.. [1] :))

You think *you* have problems... Imagine (actually, no, don't) what it's
like inside my leathers after every time I ride it... :)

Unfortunately I seem to be able to do just that. :>0
It is truly gorgeous. I like the sound too. Good forum that NS one isn't it.

Very useful for parts and knowledge...

Of course, as I put on the forum, the video on there really doesn't do
proper justice to the sound on the original video. I tried videoing up to
9000rpm, but it was a bit too loud for the camera mic (well, in the basement
it echoed a lot) and just distorts too much...

Of coure if Monz ever sends me the DVD from his helmet cam, whilst he was
riding my mate's RC45, following me on the NS, I might get a better idea of
what it sounds like from a non-riding perspective at 11k.. :)

I stupidly fired up my 1153cc flat-track XS'650' in my cellar when I'd
finished it. Just couldn't wait ot get it out in the fresh air. I don't know
about "too loud for the camera mic", it was just *too loud* period.
11k!!! Eeeeeek. What sort of horses does it put out at those revs? Did you
ever get it on a dyno? To be honest, I was a bit stunned when I got a free
dyno session for my 'road-legal' ex-Technosel works KX500, and the bloody
thing registered 79.2bhp at the back wheel!
    Strokers......there just *is* no cure..............

I'm still trying to find a reasonably local[1] place with a dynojet250, but
    when I do, it'll be dyno'ed...

On the NS site there's been a few graphs recently. A road tune 500 was only
72 bhp with Jollys, I'd like to see over 80 - it bloody feels like it. But
given that even 72 is 26 up on standard and with a very healthy midrange it
    ain't so bad...

    Dave

    [1] like within 100km of Cahors - Nimes has a place with a DJ150, but that's
    the closest I've located.
