    <sticks neck out>

I'm no BMW expert, although having ready access(1) to the
multi-voluminous Spic Book of Borked Beemers is correcting this
situation rapidly ... coil. I've heard this plaintive cry lots of
times and it is always a bloody coil. If it was a plug, or a lead, or
even a carb, it would start on the remaining cylinder(s) but miss like
    a fucker.
If it won't even start then it is always a coil.
If it goes sick at the slightest hint of a splash, it'll be a coil.

    <sticks neck even further out>

Split, it will be, mark my words.

    1. Vols 1 - 36 in the downstairs lavvy, 37 - 48 on the stairs making
their way to join the senior vols, 49 - 187 along the landing and all
the rest spilling out of Spic City in the corner as they run off his
printer and out the door ...

From memory - I got mine readily converted with a fitting kit and the
necessary cables - you need a bracket to mount it, plus some cables to
hook up both HT and LT sides.

I got mine from http://www.q-tech.de/, part 116.11. He wants 76 Euros
for it, which includes a set of HT cables as well.

I'd say. Bing and Frank had a bit of a bust up when Frankie was but a
    mere lad.

I'm sure they kissed and made up, but I don't think they ever really got
    on well.

No need to get your hands dirty.

Cracked to buggery is a suitable description.

Gyp needs a new one :-(

The genuine (Boche) article is about £70 from either of the Usual Suspects.
The K100 dual-output coil can, I'm told, be made to fit. I got one of
these, but in the end, couldn't be arsed to bodge it. Said K100 coil is
languishing in the shed if you want to try it for size.

Yeah, I know that - I actually don't even know if he speaks English at
    all :-(.
Well - I can order you a coil, no problem - I've ordered from him
before, the only snag being AFAIR that he doesn't take credit cards so
    it's bank transfer time.

That said, most of the Beemer nuts I know (yeah, they're mostly
septics, so what) swear by this type of conversion. The additional
advantage of the Q-Tech kit is that it's essentially one half of his
rather good dual-plug setup and I think you can just buy the rest of
the kit with a single coil instead of two coils.

I put this conversion on my GS and if I ever have another, I'd do the
same even if the coil wasn't cracked. What the guy doesn't know about
    Beemer ignitions isn't worth knowing...
