Overtaken quite a few people and noticed they're looking down at their
phones and texting.

Texting drivers should be arrested and their car and license confiscated on
the spot in my opinion. Either that or charged with something similar to
attempted murder in case of an accident, but then it's already too late.
First thing that came to mind was execution but I'm being humane today
(Sharia anyone?...).

Having said that, the last bloody moron I encountered texting-in-motion was
a moped rider. No helmet either, but that's still the norm around here.
Still, not half as dangerous as a blind 2-tonner.

The more I ride the more I convince myself that the second piece of gear a
motorcyclist should be carrying (after the helmet) is a crowbar or baseball
bat.

Not much of a chance as we're probably several countries away from each
other anyway, but if you're texting while you're driving and you're not in
the middle of the Australian outback or the Gobi desert, I think that's
mighty irresponsible. Particularly since I understand you're implying that
it's not unusual for you to do so.

Apparently the wuss slowed down to around 120mph when texting through
the clear window of his tank bag on the way to meet us in Limoges a
coupla years back.
