What's the penalty for failing to transfer the registration within 14 days of
    purchase?

Similar thing but with Optus. The TIO soon fixed it up. Took nearly 4
years to resolve. Once the TIO was dragged into it, the problem was
    fixed within days.

Amazing what you can achieve with a big stick.

As to the thing with the bike rego, try a similar thing. Do you have a
government Ombudsman that can sort this out for you? Here in Vic the
seller usually sends in his bit of the transfer papers and buyer does
his bit, with the transfer fee and stamp duty payment.

Ahhh yes, I'm in the process of trying to transfer from phone/dialup
bundle to phone/adsl bundle with primus. You'd think it'd be pretty
straightforward, wouldn't you ? Except for some reason the sales dept
don't seem to want my money or in fact to even talk to me (except for
the guy who didn't speak English at the call centra WTF is with that ?)

lol sounds like ihug , they have joined with iinet so if you want ADSL you
    use iintet instead of ihug

call ihug ah i wanna go ADSL,yeh no probs we can set that up for you now ,
    all set up now just
wait a week or so for telstra to do their thing, give iinet a call and they
    will give you a backup
dialup account for when you have been changed over , no probs me thinks

then the ADSL doesnt work for about a week after its supposed to , finally
    works

new month comes round and find CC has charge for ihug dialup so i ring and
    ask about it ,
desk jockey says did you cancel your dial up with us?? WTF ???

I rang you to change me over to adsl you dickheads and then to top it off ah
    we cant credit your CC
will send cheque , how long is that ?? ah about a month WTF ???

much easier when things go smooth and you dont need to talk to anyone

Dunno' they wouldn't say. (Although it clearly says on the form that there
    is a penalty!)
The two I tried both said "don't worry about that".

I don't bother calling them. I write to their corporate office with a copy
to the telecommunications ombudsman. It works, eventually.

We used to call the old time-serving managers from the Bank of New South
Wales 'computers', cos you had to punch information into them
