Cat Down

Discussion in 'UK Motorcycles' started by Krusty, Aug 11, 2008.

  1. Yup. As demonstrated by what Torr did when we got Callie - brought her
a live blackbird to kill. She was terrified of it.. But then she's
never hunted in her life. The only thing she's ever hunted in several
    thousand bowls of biscuits..

Torr knew what "take it outside and eat it" meant - he'd pick up his
kill and take it out the catdoor to eat so that the guts didn't end up
    under the kitchen table..
And then gets confused by all the screaming.

  2. I'll say it in small words for the hard of thinking:

    "because they kill cats".
Cats have no notion of human boundaries. And neither do dogs - it's the
physical barriers that limit their territory, not some notion of land
    ownership.
Again you show your utter ignorance of cats.
When our new neighbours moved in we made the same offer as to our
previous neighbours - if they need us to come and clean cat-crap up in
their garden they only have to ask..
Cats are defined as wild animals in law and so their owners cannot be
held responsible (legally) for their actions. Why do you think this
might be? (careful - involves thought).

Dogs (on the other hand) are defined as property - and so you can sue
someone for criminal damage if their dog attacks yours.

Ohhh! It's just like Wikipedia. Only a bit more accurate. And with
    less klingons.

  4. Indeed. Terriers == "earth dogs" (in the original French).
Predators are generally wary of attacking other predators unless they
can be sure of not being hurt badly.. So yes - small dogs *might* be at
risk from wolves, bears or dog-packs but then so would pretty much
anything. And small dogs would generally be members of a bigger pack.

  5. I must post pictures of our aquarium sometime - 350l[1] corner unit.
Recently restocked! (we had let the numbers decline by not replacing
fish when we were preparing to move from the previous tank to this one.
Now that the new tank has settled down we are gradually increasing the
    number of fish).

[1] Needed because we have a Pleco who is about 12" long. We've had him
about 10 years and he was fairly big when we got him..

  6. Indeed. When we refused to take out insurance on our new moggies when
they had their first jabs the vet nurse looked at us like we were
    axe-murderers.

So I shared with her the basic economics - it would cost us roughly 3
times more in insurance than we would pay out over the lifetime of the
cat (including accidents, abcesses from fighting etc etc). We worked
that out after our previous elderly cat died.

So they should be taken outside and blown away with a shotgun? I'd
like to see your face when you realised the full repercussions of an
act like that if you ever did it.

"God told me to do it" wouldn't stand up in court btw.

  8. Normally no but i get the impression the dogs are going to be 'removed'
, gone by the weekend was the comment wether that means rehomed or
destroyed i dont know , it probably means destroyed its unlikely anyone
will take on a pair of lurchers after they killed krusties cat , they
will wrongly be labelled problem dogs .

I just dont like to think the dogs are going to possibly be destroyed
certainly have thier world turned upside down because of what they did
to the cat , the same thing the cats probably been doing to the local
wildlife without any real outcry .

After all said and done the cat went into thier yard not the other way
round , the owner keeps them penned when shes out had high fences
erected it sounds as though she has been a responsible owner

reading his posts i know krusty is hurting right now , i would be if it
was one of my pets but does he really want the dogs to suffer for a
    mistake his cat made

  12. Scottish Wildcat (once was native to the whole of the mainland but now
    only found in Scotland).
Lynxes are a little bigger (can grow up to 25kg!).

Over educated twerp. I was referring to your religious tendency
for obfuscation. Dressing up stuff in dead words to make it sound
grander than it is. Attempting to avoid the concession, in some
    small part.

  14. Tough , cats kill birds cant imagine any owners muzzling them

or are you just a hypocrit
Correct , as owners we have responsiblity to keep our animals within
our boundaries and under control whilst out or accept that they are
likely to come to some harm or cause harm either accidently or
deliberatly , very difficult with cats but it can be done
The law recognizes this , thats why cat owners at present can not be
held liable for the cats actions
Theres plenty that can be done to stop cats wandering out of your
boundaries its just expensive to install
Its not the cleaning up of the crap its the damage the cats do to the
garden ripping up plants , did you offer to pay for any damage the cat
    does if not why not.

Why do you think your cat has the right roam into and crap in the
neighbours garden in the first place
Shot in the dark here , they are wild

As such being a wild animal they are fair game to be attacked and
killed by other animals and owners must accept this , they must also
accept that other people do not like cats on thier property and will
use fair means or foul to deter them

I here antifreeze is the latest cat haters weapon

As i said earlier you cant have it both ways if yor view is the cat is
a wild animal then you must accept the consequences of the cats roving
nature if you believe the cats a cute cuddly domesticated doesnt do no
wrong animal then keep it indoors were its safe or enclose your garden
so that it cant escape (it can be done)

  16. Had similar treatment when i took my two GSDs to the vets . At the time
polcies seemed to excluded age related defects so it wasnt really any
use but they still tried to sign us up .

I got the distinct impression that they were on some sought of
    commision

  18. Oh for goodness sake. Get your head out of your arse for once and read
the rest of the thread without pre-judging me according to your limited
    sterotype.
I would never do it. What I wrote was written in the heat of the moment
and (if you'd bothered to read my comment with even the slightest hint
of an open mind) I've regretted writing it since.
Idiot. Show me where I've said that.
