What's this like for bikes? It's about as easy for me to get to as
Silverstone, but is, generally, £80 less for the track day.

Yes, get that impression, however my bike's completely standard so I would
    hope it would pass.

I have driven there a few times, before they put the new chicane in.

Finding yourself at about 110, hard on the brakes, approaching a very
sharp right hander, is so exhilarating when your tyres are not actually
    in contact with the tarmac.

    This isn't encouraging me.

As I said in my earlier post - it used to be *really* bumpy, but has
been resurfaced since. Of course, they might have just smeared a new
layer of tarmac over the bumps...

Also, won't a modern GSXR600 handle bumps better than a "shitty old
    kwacker"?

Especially as it may be being ridden very fast...

I'm sure it will - but I would want to enjoy the day, not feel like I'm
    riding round my local roads.
You left out a "not" in there I think - unless you meant someone else's.

D'Oh! Here I am, trying to craftily insult your public image and I
got and **** it up. That tells you all you need to know about the
    kind of **** *I* am!

I'm obtuse, you have to be blunt.

Modern sports bikes are often *more* sensitive to bumps, given their
fast steering characteristics. PB used to claim there was a striaght
bumpy fen road that *would* have you off if you attacked it too hard
    on something like a KR1S.

I don't understand the point you're trying to make here.

Some of the local roads are rather bumpy - if I want bumpy I'll ride those
for free, rather then spending £120 to ride some bumps :)
That's what I was getting at

Well, maybe, but there's lots more to track riding than having smooth
    tarmac.

I thought of that when I wrote it, but surely /all in all/ the
improvements in suspension, wheels, tyres, unsprung weight and all
that shit outweight sharper steering geometry.

    Bishopscourt, for example.

So, now that I can use words that I don't understand in a sentence
which seems to make sense regardless - am I now a riding god? In UKRM
    terms, I suppose I am...
