Sounds like a road craft problem rather than a gender issue. If cars are
passing her on the left it's because she has allowed them to do so and that is
a problem she should address, which a leather jacket will not solve.

  2. I agree. It´s a common courtesy to keep left and let those who want to pass,
    pass. _Especially_ on wide roads/lanes.

I don't find the centre of the road has crap on it.

At lights, yes. At other intersections where trucks stop, yes.

However even then, it's only a problem when you have to brake suddenly,
and usually only in the wet. At other times, it's not caused me any
trouble, and if I do have to stop suddenly it's easy enough to change
the angle as I'm setting up the stop.

There's no *one* right place, you have the whole lane, so use it.
Sometimes on the right wheeltrack, sometimes the left, sometimes the
    centre.

A single lane road with no parked cars, I usually sit in the right hand
wheeltrack. Double lane, I'll sit in the wheeltrack close to the
dividing line between the two lanes going my way.

But I'll move depending on my sightlines, what's coming the other way,
the actions of the traffic around me, and so on.

I travel in the centre of te lane when a wheeltrack isn't the right
place. Single lane roads which are wide enough for cars to park as well
is one of the times, that takes control of the road much better than in
    the right track.

This is a/the big red flag to the raging bull IMO. Even in a car if you
stick an L on the back you're bound to attract more nutcases than normal.
The stupid thing is that instead of giving way and allowing for a learner to
move on safely, people seem to get impatient and go all stupid and
    impatient.

  7. No offence but the ¨I was doing the speed limit¨ is a mute point in my
opinion. You are a road user, not a copper, and thus enforcing others to do
the speed limit is not your job. Common courtesy dictates that when someone
wishes to pass you don´t have to make it hard for them. I appreciate it
when people move over for me and I afford the same courtesy to others.

Maybe it's that old air they keep breathing over and over again with and
    carbon monoxide added for flavour.

From your description, she must be sitting so far to the right of the lane
that other road users see a viable passing opportunity on her left. She
should never let that happen. Is there really oil on the road in the centre
or is that paranoia? As Zebee said, that is _usually_ only a problem where
vehicles come to a complete stop. Given that there is a two foot sealed
shoulder on the left, then she should probably be riding in the centre of the
lane. Tell her to make sure she never leaves a car width on her left, or
right for that matter. If I'm being overtaken I will drift over to the right
[not aggressively but enough to let the driver know I am protecting my space]
as they moves right, and force them to move completely out of the lane into
    the oncoming lane.

Down here in the third world, where cars never have to have a RWC check,
wherever there is a bump or dip in the road there is an oily patch after it,
spreading from the middle of the lane. In the wet it becomes a real
problem - you can't see the dip/bump, and you can't see the oily patch most
of the time - good idea to stay in wheeltracks and risk a shiny surface.

Because the traffic is lighter here, the intersections aren't as bad -
certainly not as bad as Adelaide

Nah.. come up with something more original.. like a hovering device of some
sort. The wheel's been done to death
Good.. one more voice of agreeance to add to my collection. The voices in my
head were beginning to not count..
