Carole Nash or EBike?

Well I've phoned round (and browsed) for quotes for my new (to me)
ZZR1200 and it's going to cost £210 - $250, not too bad. I now need
to decide which quote to choose, to my mind the best ones are:-

    EBike premium £220
£250 excess, £250 more excess if bike wasn't garaged and it's
    nicked from home.
    Legal Cover
Breakdown cover in UK, from DAS
All year continental cover (but not breakdowns)
    Protected No-claims

    Carole Nash premium £250
    £400 excess
    Legal cover
Breakdown cover in UK and Europe, from AXA
    All year continental cover
    NCB not protected

I guess EBike sounds better, I'm fairly unlikely to do a lot of
continental riding. Or is the extra £30 worth it for Carole Nash
    being the more conservative choice?

Footman JAmes offered me a policy identical to Carole Nash but a bit
    cheaper

emerged from their own little world to say

All of this information has been trotted out in a number of threads
    recently. I'm feeling charitable, so:

    Things to consider:
    a) CN is a broker selling policies from established insurance companies
fully regulated under UK & EU law.
    b) Ebike is registered in Gibraltar and regulated under Gib/EU law
    c) CN has an established track record. Ebike is an unknown quantity as far
as dealing with claims is concerned
    d) Territorial limits: Ebike is EU only. All CNash policies will cover
popular non-EU countries such as Switzerland, Norway, Andorra &
Liechtenstein. Depending on the underwriter you may also get cover for
    other countries.
    e) C Nash breakdown policy covers the whole territorial limits of the main
    insurance policy

d & e swung it for me. The extra 50 quid was good value as I went to
Croatia earlier this year. This was covered at no extra cost by my CN
policy underwritten by Royal Sun Alliance & Europ Assistance

If you garage the bike and don't do Europe then EBike Shirley?

    My 2 penny worth:

Protected no claims is good imho.

Auntie Carole have sorted the return of the Bindit in a hassle free
manner. Shame it hits my ncb though.

Still, on the bright side, having my full post code bonus applied makes
up for all but 30 odd p of the loss.

Is it bollocks. Have a claim (thus invoking the protection) and then
try to transfer to another company/broker. They will /not/ recognise
the protection. All protection achieves is to lock you in to the
company offering you the protection and although your NCB still looks
the same afterwards, you will fiond that your premium will increase on
renewal ... by a similar amount to the loss of NCB, strangely.

It is never worth paying for - or believing in.

In the event of a claim from EBike, your total cost is 470. With
Carole Nash it's 650 plus your NCB. Not a tricky choice. You
can buy a lot of breakdown cover for 180 quid.

I've just lowered my premium from £416 (Hastings Direct) to £232
(Landmark via Motorcycle Direct). It's of no relevance to you, but
I just wanted to tell *someone* about it!

Couldn't agree more- it's a con designed to make you feel you're getting
something extra at renewal time... "How about if we throw in protected
no claims, it would be a shame to lose your 8 years no claims..."

  9. Agreed. About as useful as a Dixons extended warranty, and about as
    expensive.

Far be it from me to criticise your reply Chris, but trying again in
English would be a nice idea. This concept of "zero or 1" in
    particular means nothing to me.

Allow me to translate, I've recently been practising my dialogue with
    the hard-of-thinking.

"Well, if you end up with less than one years NCD then you will find you
cannot get insurance. Speaking from my experience I will protect by No
    Claims every time thank you"

    Does that help?

That's much better, Mr. Posh. By including a clever little typo of
your own you have raised the quality of your reply to 'Almost
    Perfect'.

I still maintain that he's a mile wide of the mark, however.

Well, I can see a missing apostrophe and a 'by' instead of a 'my' so I
    guess it's two.
As do I, see previous post. But if it keeps him warm at night who are
    we to question his motivations?

Indeed, and is one of the reasons why premiums are so fucking expensive.

No claims bonus is by definition a bonus for not having made a claim. To
protect it by paying a 10% or so surcharge is, IMHO, marketing bollox. The
whole principle is up it's own arse, how the **** is the insurance "pot"
supposed to be replenished if not by people who have claimed paying more.

  16. Sorry been riding too much to notice my posts and errors of my linguistic
activities. Ill sit at the front of the class next time! Anyway all im
saying is instead of agreeing with everyone else I have a valid reason why I
would protect my no claims. I had apostrophe exclamation mark an experience
where I got to 2 years no claims and had an accident consequently my no
claims disappeared on renewal leaving my quotation for the following year at
£2500 which I couldn't afford therefore thus giving one no chance of getting
ones leg over ones vehicle any such longer. Hope this article meets the
legislatorial commitments of the following act section 6 4d under **** who
cares section. Well I thought I was funny
