Anyone here use Carole Nash for insurance? If so are you happy with their service?
Very. I've always found their service with quotes to be quick and accurate and speed of posting paperwork beyond reproach. Errors with paperwork are far from unknown however, and as such details should be checked. Having had two total losses dealt with in a very swift, sympathetic and otherwise most satisfactory manner, leading to a very acceptable conclusion, they do indeed do what they say on the tin. Not only that, but I understand that all their staff have to at least attempt the CBT, so they have some idea of what we face on a daily basis - and a lot of CN staff are regular bikers too.
I've never had to make a claim so I don't know how good they are when the shit hits the fan but otherwise they're fine.
I objected strongly to their attempts to cross-subsidise their bike alarm fitting business. I had a ZX9r a few years ago which was already insured with them. At the renewal they told me it needed an alarm fitted, I queried why this should be since I'd not claimed etc. during the previous year but they wouldn't move. They then said I needed to provide them with the fitting certificate before the insurance could be taken out. My time was short and I ended up saying this was virtually impossible, could I insure it but accept the theft risk was mine if it wasn't alarmed; they weren't having this but 'offered' to arrange for their in-house people to fit the alarm and if I paid in advance this was good enough for them. I questioned this because if not having an alarm fitted invalidated my insurance why would they wave this for their internal alarm fitment team but not if I chose an independant alarm fitment company. They wouldn't discuss this further. The cost of the inhouse alarm fitment was about 50 quid more than elsewhere. I told them to forget it and went to Mitchell & Partners (RIP) who insured me for about the same as Carole Nash suggested and *didn't* insist on an alarm. I wouldn't go back to Carole Nash for that reason, even if it meant that I paid more elsewhere. Cunts.
Grassy Knollington emerged from their own little world to say Yes and yes. With the caveat that I am lucky in that I have no first hand experience of dealing with their claims dept. or breakdown service. I can verify that the breakdown service included with each policy does work very well in the UK and in Europe as I've witnessed it in action when riding in a group.
They paid out for my gixxer without any trouble at all. I have 4 on one policy, it's cheap, the cover seems good and I've been with them for aeons.
Hmm I refused the alarm on the gixxer and the current bikes. On the former I said it was Alphadotted and that was all I wanted. They gave me no hassle.
I have a problem with their car insurance side, trying to penalise me for a bike incident where a woman knocked over my bike while it was parked and it was not my fault, they are trying to charge me a premium of £43 on my car insurance for it. I was happy with the bike side of their insurance up till now, which has been straightforward (i.e. no claims or problems so they were not really tested), but they seem to love to charge £25 "broker fee" for any minor modification to a policy. They wanted £25 just to close my last car policy early which they were already charging a high percentage for on the surrender value, and now they want to charge me for someone else causing an accident... unfair to the extreme, and they already had full details of this on file (which I told them when I got the insurance over the phone) but they could not be bothered to check or they chose to ignore them, £25 "broker fee" seems in my opinion very high in the same way banks and credit cards charge you £25 for no real work whenever a hiccup occurs with your account. I will have to shop around, I gave them the benefit of the doubt on previous fee charging escapades but this is too much.
Previously yes, and I can vouch that their claims process seems to be reasonably straightforward, although I never got as far as completing the claim. Their breakdown is so-so, but that's cos they rely on subbing the job out locally. Better than nothing and cheaper than Really Arrogant Cunts. All that said, they're no longer competitive for me since gaining the ZZR. -- Dnc B1200 - +30bhp ~|~ ZZR1100 - faster when upright V2300 - flat cap and rug ~|~ A6 2.5TDi V6 Quattro Sport MIB#26 two#54(soiled) UKRMMA#26 BOTAFOT#153 X-FOT#003
Seems quite a few do, and the price on bike insurance wasn't bad, but does everyone also have car insurance with them or experienced their £25 fee for them doing anything on the policy, even telling them what they should have already known... the other question that sprung to mind was "Hands up who works for them..." ;-)
They never charged me any admin fee's to correct their **** ups. I don't think any regular on here works for them, bicbw. -- Dnc B1200 - +30bhp ~|~ ZZR1100 - faster when upright V2300 - flat cap and rug ~|~ A6 2.5TDi V6 Quattro Sport MIB#26 two#54(soiled) UKRMMA#26 BOTAFOT#153 X-FOT#003
Yes and yes. On my classic insurance, I've calculated that I pay more per annum in small "admin fees" for chopping and changing bikes than I do in premiums :-/ When The Doctor was skittled off her Benly, we told CN about the spill, told them we weren't claiming and would sort it ourselves, and they said: "OK, fine." Didn't stop Equity Red Star trying to send a loss adjuster round, and bombarding us with claims forms, though....
Yes , seems reasonable to add or emove bikes/names, after all they have to click a few keys and post some guff to you.
In uk.rec.motorcycles, Grassy Knollington belched forth and ejected the following: Yep, so far. Friendly operators who seem to know what they're talking about, cheap as chips quotes (for me at least) and I'll generally get my paperwork[1] on the mat next working day. [1] Do check the paperwork though, they've sent stuff to me with wrong vehicle values and in one case just the prefix letter for the year although to be fair I did say I didn't know the reg when I phoned to get cover.
No and Yes. But I'll probably be with them in less than a week. They know insurance terms quite well, answered all of my complicated questions without too much difficulty and spotted a couple of trick questions that I'd thrown in. Very good.
