Carb Backfiring

    86 VT100 Shadow. Just replaced the tranny and got a problem with the front
    carb backfiring. With the air box removed I can see excess gas in the carb
    throat and at idle it backfires from the carb. If I increase the throttle
    the backfire goes away. I cleaned the carbs and double checked the cam
    timing and looks good.

    Any suggestions?
