  1. I think I'd go for the new range rover, an enough change to insure it and
    fill the petrol tank...

Or perhaps it was these folks, the Victor McLaglen Motor Corps:

They are *the* absolute masters of formation riding.

Read it again. In itself, my statement holds water.
    A Toyota Camry.
I wasn't defending what Cane said. I was disagreeing with what you
said in response to Cane. There is a difference.
If they are factors in your car choice, you don't want an Elise *or* a
    Seven-rep. You want a Fiesta.
    Chimera, Cerbera, Tasmin, Wedge 450,
Given that I live in Doha, you're more than welcome to meet me at my
local track. I'd come to you, but your local track isn't a MotoGP
    track. There's a F1 track a 30 minute flight away, if you'd prefer.

Firstly, not everyone has your car choice criteria.
Secondly. people who have 100K to blow on a motor mostly don't only
have one car. A bloke I know who has one (well, a CL55, but it's the
same thing) also has an S500 - for going to dinners, and such - and a
Jeep Grand Cherokee - for going to the station. He's had the DB7,
    he's had the 911 Turbo, and he's had a 355. He's fed-up of them going
wrong, of their constant need for servicing, and their downright
unreliability (not the 911, admittedly). So he bought a fast Merc.
    What's wrong with that?
You miss the point by a fucking mile, every time, don't you?

But it's not, and that's the point you keep missing.

In absolute terms - not the terms you keep trying to throw in:
ultimate sports category, 100k + category - an SL55AMG corners well.

End of story. If you can't understand this simple proposition, you
    are thicker than I thought.

You fucking thick ****. For that to be a proper measure, you're going
to have to measure it again *all* other cars. Most of which it will
    be faster than.
I *could* buy one tomorrow. They're very cheap here, and I have the
liquid funds available. Does that answer your question?
I'll wager that I've driven a wider variety of performance cars, in a
wider variety of conditions than you have.
I have no fucking idea. I wouldn't have thought so. I can easily
borrow an SL55 though. No **** drives an Elise here.

  13. Apart from the braking into corners, and the accelerating out of them,
the actual cornering bit is determined by the coefficient of friction
    between rubber and tarmac.

End of story. If you can't understand this simple proposition, you
are thicker than I thought. :)

Frankly, because I'd rather pay off the mortgage.
    You might be surprised.
I said "I wouldn't have thought so". Unless you can get them from
Hertz at the airport. Qatar doesn't need performance car hire firms:
many, many people can afford to buy the cars they want.

I've no idea whatsoever. I drive exotica so frequently that I barely
pay it attention. Almost all my circle of friends at home are in the
motor trade or are serious car nuts. One worked for Ferrari, through
whom I got to drive all but one of the Ferraris I've drive. Others do
various things in various areas of the trade, and are very free with
their keys. A member of the family is CEO of an investment bank; you
may be able to identify his wheels from earlier in the thread. A good
mate is an oil broker with a penchant for M-cars. Another used to
race single-seaters of some sort and now gets his kicks on the roads
in a De Tomaso Pantera. Another is a eurobonds broker with a porsche,
a ferrari and an RS500. Another is editor of Redline magazine. I
spent some university vacations as a chauffeur for the Royal Family of
    Dubai.

The Jag XJR surprised me, I found it to be a better drive than the S-Type
(though personally I preferred the XKR, which was way more fun to drive).
For such a huge piece of machinery the XJR handled effortlessly around
twisty bits, all very polite IMO, even at *cough* speed. Probably not as
good at that sort of trick as a similarly priced Audi, but very impressive
    anyway.

Are you comparing against a normal S-Type, or an S-Type R?

Actually this sounds very much like my first few weeks with the gixxer
last year. I'd not ridden much except the 400 for a while, as I was
wainting til the Triumph was sold before replacing it, IYSWIM, so
while I did have some cornering problems for a while.

In my case it very definitely _was_ a case of going into slow bends
too fast, doing lots of last-second, stoppie-inducing braking (because
it could) and not being properly set up for the corner. I was even
embarassed by a 'busa pilot, 2-up, who caught me up in every corner on
a run down in the Black Forest.

'Trying too hard' was what it boiled down to, and relaxing a bit was
    the cure.

Normal, both 3 litre manual and 4 litre automatic. I've not yet had the
opportunity to drive an S-Type R.
    I imagine that they're a bit special though :)
