  4. It matters if he wants his brake fixed. Besides, as Auvache pointed out,
the electrolytic corrosion happens anyway. It's just a bit (a lot) worse
    when salt is present.

Plain aluminium brake shoes wouldn't last long without steel heels cast into
    them.
    I call know nothing dumbass.

That's curious considering he's the subject of a famous song:

All I want is a proper cup of coffee
Made in a proper copper coffee pot
I may be off my dot <------------------(note reference)
But I want a cup of coffee from a proper coffee pot

Tin pot exhausts and iron pot exhausts

    WRONG.
I have here brake shoes from a Bantam, an LE, a Morris Minor, and a
Jawa 350. None of them have steel heels.

You buy shit cheap brake shoes then, cos almost every brake shoe I've
bought in the past 30 years had a steel heel bonded on or cast in. It
stops the alloy heel wearing prematurely with a steel cam bearing
    against it under pressure.

IIRC AMC machines used to have brake shoes with a round steel pin[1]
    heel.

No bearing pins in these but you can see the hole. Pikeys used to pop a
washer under the top of the pin to eke a bit more life from the linings.
Though if you were still on old style riveted linings you didn't get
    much more out of them.

[1] I can't think of he proper name. Like a mushroom but with a flat top

I've just done a search for "Morris minor brake shoes" and got a picture of
what appear to be welded steel shoes with riveted linings, and the ends of
the shoes look as if they engage with pistons, so there's not even the issue
of wear against a brake cam.

You're quite correct in this respect.

I had a Moggy once, and had fun with the brakes (or lack of them): the
    full story is still here:
