  1. Ahh, that would be revrsing on a main road - not reversing out of your
    driveway.

Pedantic, I know, but hey dilligaf?

  3. Fugoff, I already stated I was being pedantic.

Enjoy NP's Ghost Rider by the way - thanks.

Bollocks is it. That would preclude the use of tens of thousands of
driveways. The word you are looking for is "across" - as in it being
(technically) illegal to reverse *across* a main road: starting in one
direction of travel and crossing to the other, iyswim.

My parents neighbour got done after he reversed out of his drive and
hit a car parked opposite. This is not a major road. merely a street.
Apparently causing accidents when reversing is serious as you are
deemed not to be in full control of the vehicle, though I doubt many
insurance companies would even raise an eyebrow at the matter, let
alone the police. I don't know the defence "I was staring at some at
some bint in tight trousers when the accident occured" will wash
though. Perhaps you'll end up on one of those internet lists of
    humourous insurance claim excuses.

You could of course contact these people and you might never have to
reverse out of your drive again

I drive onto our drive cos there's another car on there. The other car
faces the road I face the house. This way both drivers doors or facing
one another and both cars can be snuck closely to the edges of the drive
    leaving walking space between.

Cool, I like the motorcycle turntable.

    Mains powered, variable speed rotation.

You could put a Duc on it and have it rotating in the lounge ..

    Cheers

    Paul.

so it's only a HC recommendation, not a law as such (if it were, it
would be phrased "you must not..." etc.

Very badly written IMO (like I can talk) It seem to me that it means You
should never reverse from a side road into a main road. You should reverse
into the side road and drive out, and that is the only acceptable action.
I realise that your interpretation may be just as accurate though.
