  3. Using the patented Mavis Beacon "Hunt&Peck" Technique, Lozzo
This is true, as a mate found out to his (considerable) cost. He bought
a brand spanking new CB900. Which was 901cc...

The old people remember when it was different though, Nigel. Us
    youngsters only remember these brackets.

Mine went from around 1 weeks wages to well over a month, it was
actually cheaper to insure a group 5[1][2] car than the bike.

[1] IIRC at the time anything above 5 was a special quote

Aye, but why my mate totalled his GS750(big bored to 850), the claim was
interesting (I had to make it as he was wrapped up in hospital and not
able to do much in the way of writing and talking :) )

  8. The intent of the law was to clamp down on deliberately non-insured
vehicles and curb the use of fast cars on parents' policies. It would
seem the drafters left it deliberately vague, to be ironed out later, as
    is so often the case.
A test case is needed, but I'm certain the intent was not to clobber
CIHAGM drivers, the vast majority of whom have no intention of flouting
the law or driving uninsured. All that's needed is a sensible judge -
    but that's not too likely.

Anyway, the point I made earlier still stands - I could drive anyone
else's car with perfect legality - and they could drive mine. One of the
benefits of having a farmer's policy.

  10. Hah. My first NURP was to cover a 150cc scooter and the prospect of
being able to ride anything up to 350cc on the same policy was heady, to
    say the least.

Ahhh, the fact these ins.cos. record all their conversations works in the
    publics favour sometimes :)

Anyway, he's never had an accident in his life, has driven faster cars than
an M3 and is a sensible driver so I'm not worried.

  12. Don't worry, I'm sure they'll take good care of that recording and never
    accidentally 'misplace' or 'erase' it.

took a blunt brush and painted...
Well as he drove the M3 for one day and it was a couple of weeks ago now, no,
it would make no difference at all!
