As it said in Champ's post in this thread if I had read it all instead of just the legalese part. Curious. Still doesn't alter my original observation about plod. Factor in all that paperwork for a nick of someone not on the scene if they couldn't find anything else wrong, and the outcome isn't surprising. -- +----------------------------------------------------------------+ | Pete Fisher at Home: | | Voxan Roadster [ SPACE ! ] Yamaha WR250Z | | Gilera GFR * 2 Moto Morini 2C/375 Morini 350 "Forgotten Error" | +----------------------------------------------------------------+
took a blunt brush and painted... I tried all the temp insurers I could think of including ecarinsurance. Half of them said they won't do temp insurance on a group 20 car, the other half said they won't do temp insurance on a BMW. Hopeless.
took a blunt brush and painted... Ross specificaly phoned Direct Line with the reg no of the M3 and made it crystal clear the owner, me, did not have insurance and did his policy cover him driving the car. Maybe they just need to make a note of the reg no and the fact Ross was going to drive it TPO, I don't know. All I can do is trust what the insurers say as they're the ones issuing the policies for all our cars. Champ got away with it, Beavs father got done for doing the same. Obviously its a grey area and plod aren't clued up on it. Anyway, he has a loaner car from the garage now. Did I mention the M3 was SORN'd last week too?
The mate of mine with the M3 Evo is only 25 tbh... and he's not stacked it yet despite driving it 'enthusiastically' most of the time. Might help that his other car is a Skyline engined 200SX. mind. See what NFU want to cover it - they refund every penny you've not had the benefit of should you have to end the policy early IME... I'd probably check if that was still the case before signing on the dotted line, mind. What's he doing driving (1) around in a poxy C3, then??? ;-) To be fair, the 1.4HDI I occasionally drive seems to be reliable enough, and decent on fuel... but by god is it gutless. (1) ...when it works, that is. ;-)
Well, I obviously ignored you the first time. But checking back, it seems that Sat 28th was when I took the van in question to the IoM, so I didn't see your post til I got back, and had first hand evidence that at least one scouse copper didn't think it was a problem
<waves> When I had my R90/6. At the time it was the only cover my broker could get for it. -- +----------------------------------------------------------------+ | Pete Fisher at Home: | | Voxan Roadster [ SPACE ! ] Yamaha WR250Z | | Gilera GFR * 2 Moto Morini 2C/375 Morini 350 "Forgotten Error" | +----------------------------------------------------------------+
I heard that NU will still renew old Rider Policies if they've been constantly renewed since they were taken out. If you let one lapse for even one day then they won't renew it. Unfortunately I let mine lapse in about 1991 when I insured an RD250 with Auntie Carol on a classic policy.
Over 900cc was unlimited IIRC. The groups went: Up to 100cc Up to 225cc Up to 350cc Up to 600cc Up to 900cc Unlimited
Originally the unlimited class ran from 350cc. I can remember it well because my elder brother bought an S3 brand new without checking the insurance groups and cursed long and loud when he realised how much cheaper it would have been if he'd gone for his second choice of an RD350. I was also paying for unlimited cover on my XS2 in 1977 and that had been a factor in my choice of bike because I didn't see the point in getting stung on a smaller bike.
I was going to point out something similar. I know that I needed unlimited for my XT500 (499cc) in the late 1970s. Not sure when they added the higher categories, but certainly later than 1979, when I was allowed to CIHAGM on any bikes using that insurance.
