    Hmmmmm.....

I assume that it's not MOTable as is due to the brakes? I really don't
have the space to park a resto project, hence the question.
That's good, and I do know someone who can sort the paintwork so that
    doesn't bother me.
    's not a bad price.
I should just about be able to service this kind of tractor myself.
Which reminds me, I need to get cracking on getting said service parts.
Better ask what the local-ish chopper guys recommend oil-wise as I
don't really want to splash out on H-D oil unless I have to, and I'm
not sure where to get some decent synthetic 20W50 otherwise.

The brakes are weak, but it's got through the MOT with them OK the last
few years. I was planning to take it for MOT though (hence the question
about number plate painting on ukrmc) as that will either give it a
clean bill of health or list its problems IYSWIM.
TBH, consumables (inc oil) are not too badly priced from HD themselves,
so you could save time by just buying from them

Well, let me know how that goes.
I may end up doing that as I have to drive to Canterbury anyway to pick
    up a parcel.

Guess the danger is that if I go there I'll also walk out with a set of
Vance & Hines pipes to replace the drag pipes that are currently on the
bike so that's likely to get a tad expensive. Mind you, it'll save on
the logistics problems that I'd have buying stuff like that on fleabay.

OTOH they seem to be a pretty decent bunch over there and IMHO local
shops like that should be encourage.

Ah fuggit, I'll drive to Cunterbury in my lunch break.

Look out for a Morris oils distributor. They do 2 grades of oil for twins.
A 20w/50 mineral for BMWs & Harleys. A 10W/50 synthetic for sportier bikes
like Ducatis & Aprilias. I can't see why you need fully synthetic for such
    an agrarian lump.
    http://www.morrislubricantsonline.co.uk/motorcycleoils.html has prices and
an online order facility, with free delivery over £50.

Demon Tweeks have a variety of oils on their website that gives a good
reference. Note the Putoline V twin jobbie.

Mainly because they tend to run lean and run rather hot as a result.
Thanks, both noted - although I ended up getting the mineral Harley
stuff but that's because I couldn't be arse to drive somewhere else for
    the oil.

Not that that helps because a couple of the exhaust gaskets are on back
order and I wasn't going to ride it with the current plod-attracting
exhaust. Oh, and the light clutch mechanism will hopefully turn up
    sometime next week, too.
