No, you should forget the tent altogether - a hotel guide is optional.

Poof. Simply walk up to a tree and headbutt it so hard you fall down.

  5. A half blown up airbed is very comfortable once you get your head down.
should be on the airbed. otherwise use a fleece on top of your leathers.
    No way.
    No way.
    Use the largest soucepan.
Don't forget plenty of plastic bags. And probably a small plastic
groundsheet so if you sit outside you can stay dry if the ground is wet.

You might want to pack one of those anti-midge candles as well.

In the evening keep your sleeping bag wrapped up. The evening cool down
will make everything left out damp.

Make sure your tent entrance is pointing away from the provailing wind.
Then if it rains you won't get flooded. Don't pitch under trees, water
will drop from the leaves well after it stops raining. Choose a bit of
higher ground to pitch the tent. Then you wont get flooded.

    HTH.

Did you see it on the telly on Sunday/Monday? (not sure if it was shown
    nationwide or just BBC Scotland).

    I do this a lot.

    I take:

    Tent
    Sleeping bag
    Compact Stove/Pots (Trangia)
    Fuel
    Mug
    Tea, Coffee, Sugar, Powdered milk.
    Flask

I don't bother with a carrymat or serious cooking stuff. Flask is
handy because the sorts of places you'll be wanting to stop for coffee
are not gonna be supplied with a cafe.

Better to eat in pubs but you *can* cook and eat with just a
stove/disposable B-B-Q fire if you have to.

Camping doesn't work out much cheaper than hotels in Europe *but* you
get to choose *exactly* when and where you stop...

In Scotland you'll be saving cash as well as time!

  19. I do wonder about the people you see turn up on a campsite,
then spend the day washing their car and/or caravan.
