    I've just noticed these:

    http://www.lidl.co.uk/gb/index.nsf/pages/c.o.oow.20050523.p.3_Person_Tent

    http://www.lidl.co.uk/gb/index.nsf/pages/c.o.oow.20050523.p.Self-Inflating_Airbed_-_Single

    anyone got any relevant comments.

My present (non disposable) tent is an 18 y-o dome tent, single skin,
about 4 peeps size, no porch, so shitty gear either comes inside and
messes all the other gear, or stays out in the pissing rain.

OK...I'm quietly chuckling, but, you have expressed a huge aversion to
    camping, due to your back.

Are you being sarcastic? Have I been whooshed? ;-)

Could you see yourself queuing up outside such a pikey shop at 08:30, cos
    that stuff goes awfully quickly?

Now, now! Don't try to be nasty, it really doesn't suit you.

I was being pleasant, why can't you?

The ground sheet for our tent comes in three parts, so you could quite
happily leave the central section 'au natural,' without anything on the
ground (other than grass) to catch fire.

Bloody hell, I'd heard that you were a little bit portly, but that's
ridiculous! Are you planning to stage stadium events?
Mmmm, I'm not sure either - I was using the eBay listing as an example of
the tent I bought, rather than who I bought it from IYSWIM... OTOH his
    feedback seems good enough.

O.K., as Bear has said, the tent flysheet is "water resistant" not
water proof. However, Lidl are a German company, so may have just done
a word for word translation of the specification given to them by
their suppliers or German consumer law may be different, so the tent
has to be described as water resistant. However,
http://www.nikwax.co.uk/uk/texnik.asp looks like it may help if the
flysheet isn't up to English summer weather. The storage area is a
bloody good idea and can also be pressed into service as an emergency
sleeping area. Lastly, it looks like it can be pitched flysheet first
    - this is a good thing.

As for the self-inflating mattress - is 188cm going to be long enough?

    I'm interested by this....

Your statement is clearly a cop-out, but what the hell, I'll bite.

What are you gibbering on about?

So 2000mm static head isn't enough?

Probably, but the spec mentions 2000mm static head (if you look closely @
    the piccy).
    There is that....
Yup. Last time I used my present tent, I had to bring my seriously muddy
boots inside and ended up with shite all over the shop. I could've left
the boots outside - they would have been washed clean by morning - but
    sodden, too. :-/
    I believe so.
Well... my feet may dangle over the end, but more likely, I'll use some of
my kit as a pillow, so it mightn't be as much of a prob..

Unless you know where I can get something longer?

Nah, I'm knackered, which makes me argumentative and picky.... I'd better
**** off and have a snooze.
Doubt it, but I do believe that if someone has reached the point of no
longer giving a ****, life can't be worth living.........

    Bollocks! Time for a kip.

If the tent collapses, it doesn't matter what hydrostatic head you've got
    :)

Very true. One collapsed on me once - I got so tangled that the only way
out was strategic application of a Swiss Army knife. :-/

Now back to 2000mm... is that good or shite? ;-)

For once I find myself in agreement with Bear. You (FJ) really are
one of the campest UKRMers I've ever met. And that includes Corfield.

That's correct. 3000mm hydrostatic head should be enough for all but the
worst weather in our fair country. Of course, if the seams aren't very
good, they may break before the hydrostatic qualities of the fabric get a
    look in :)
I would only buy something on eBay if you've seen it sold at a reputable
camping shop. I went to Attwools to get some advice before taking the
    plunge on mine.
