A while back, there was a thread about trips folk would like to do, and
I said something to the effect of get as many Camerons together and ride
    to Cameron Corner.

Well, according to Google maps, from my place to Cameron Corner is only
1,308 kms., and should take 20 hours and 50 minutes. :)

    Sounds too easy!

Have any of you lot done that trip?

    Any comments?

Is there any pressing reason why I couldn't do it on an R850R?

Where are the rest of the Camerons? (Actually, I know how to contact
    Cameron Simpson)

    regards,

You could do the trip on that bike but I would prefer to do it on a dual
sport of some kind. I have done a run to Innaminka and assume that road
conditions would be similar, at the least I would fit some Dual Sport tyres
if available in the corret sizes, a 17 inch front may be a bit difficult so
you may have to run a smaller rear tyre on the front.

Continential TCK80's could be suitable they are available in 120/90/17 for
your front tyre (your standard size I think is 120/70/17) and 150/70/18
(standard may be 160/60/18) for the rear. I have these on my R1200GSA and on
the front of the R100GSPD and they are very good tyres.

Only 1378 from Brisbane so I am sure Clem and I would be in a
aus.motorcycles run to the corner. (and I just washed the red dust out of
    the GSPD this afternoon).

It's all bitumen to Cunna-bloody-mulla but I dunno how the Sprint would like
    the 550km after that!
(or how my ARSE would like it either!)

Actually Clem it is bitumen to Noccundra 142 kilometres to the west of
Thargomindah, the dirt section would be the 260 kilometres after that.

Ray and I did the run from Brisbane to Cunnamulla in a day, the ride to the
corner would take about 6 to 8 hours out of Cunnamulla so its an easy 4 day
    run.

Wack a set of knobbies on the Sprint and you are laughing.

It's probably no more, but for some years in the Perth suburb of Guildford
    (I think, it's been a long time)there was a large sign saying "St David's
Deviation" which pointed out how to get to the church of the same name.

If I can't even be sure of the suburb, I don't really have more info
    than that.

It was on a mainish road but not, I think, the Great Eastern Highway,
more than that I cannot say.
