  1. Anyone fancy a "pub by the river style" lunch Sat / Sun ?

Open to suggestions, but had in mind these.

The Trout Inn - Wolvercote - Nice but can be busy.

    http://www.visitthames.co.uk/poi_detail/19/3321/poi_detail.html

The Trout @ Tadpole Bridge - One of my faves.

    http://www.visitthames.co.uk/poi_detail/19/3336/poi_detail.html

Maybush or Rose Revived at Newbridge.

    http://www.visitthames.co.uk/poi_detail/19/3284/poi_detail.html

    http://www.visitthames.co.uk/poi_detail/19/3285/poi_detail.html

    Any other suggestions welcome.

I'm interested in any of those for Saturday - The Trout at Tadpole Bridge
looks/sounds good - but I can't say for definite until the postie has been
and delivered (or not delivered) a bit that makes my back brake work.

I shall read the NG until late morning tomorrow and if it all happens, I'll
    be there.

Can't make Saturday (am Transit wrangling with Pip), but Sunday could
    be on.
I like this place a lot too, and it's jolly convenient for me. If I
    come I'll bring F.

Wonder if we can persuade Gyp, Krusty, Burnt, Platy and the other
    south-westerners out.

  4. You never know....

I shall turn up on both days then [1], already planned to go over today -
saturday - with a mate from work.

[1] - No complaints here - good food - good ale - lovely spot to relax and
talk shite for a few hours.

I'd like to meet up, but it's just going to be a bit too far when SWMBO
    eventually surfaces from the pit.

Maybe next time if you're either a little East &/or North.

Much as I love lunch by the river, it'll be a few weekends yet before I
can take a day off. Today's little task is building a 35 metre fence, &
    tomorrow's is dry-lining an extension.

  8. Doh, I had a pannicky mother on the phone at midday as her car wouldn't
start, and she's meant to be at Heathrow this evening off on hols.

Anyhoos sorted that out and just got home 5 mins ago.

Hope you had a nice ride out - anyone else make it ?

Well, I popped along for the SV's last ride out in my ownership and
didn't see a soul. Couldn't even eat without a reservation so a swift OJ
    and away.

I spent the afternoon barbecueing, drinking and washing & waxing the
bikes. Consequently I am now quite pissed, quite bloated, and have two
    very shiny bikes.

Only downside of cleaning the RGV is it really shows up all the scuffs
and scratches it's collected over the last 12 years. Might have to treat
it to a respray at some point.

    <shudder>

There's a reason you don't need reservations to eat there, even though
it's in a lovely spot by the river & the weather was stunning. I go
there quite often for drinks, but the food? Yuck!

If you fancy a nice place by water, I can highly recommend The Old
Boathouse on the spine road in the Cotswold Water Park, just off the
419 roundabout. It's right on the edge of a lake & the food is very
    good.

I'd have to agree: £6.50 for an indifferent cheese baguette with mediocre
red onion chutney and some fairly limp greenery. Some nice lanes round and
    about though.
    Ctrl-D!

PS. Brownz/Graham: it /is/ the Thames. I thought it would be wider than
    that.

Actually, I suspect that the reason that WUN can't find it is that he's
forgotten about the explanation mark, i.e. it's "Yo! Sushi".
