Electrical shinsnigins with my restoration project.......all is fine
with the right hand indicators, but try the left hand and the small
fuse located inside the headlamp cowl blows!, I gues it must be
shorting out somewhere, but befor I start ripping things apart, (no
coments about ripping MZs to bits please), does anyone have any
experience of this happening, or is there a usual area where shorts
    occure? any sugestions greatly appretiated

    Cheers

I had a rather embarrassing short on an even more embarrassing CZ: the
flasher relay was rammed in the headlight along with the rat's nest
and somehow shorted to one of the headlight connectors, so the
headlight was merrily flashing away as I rode home one evening. I only
found out when I switched the ignition off and could hear this rythmic
    ticking.

Just bin the indicators if it's pre 86. MZ wiring looms are very simple
and pretty good quality things; they aren't tightly bundled like Japanese
so if it's a short should be easy to find.

The culprit is likely to be the mechanical flasher unit. Try a
replacement 6v one if you can get your hands one.

  4. What he said, and if you want a replacement 6v item, I've got a couple
of Honda ones going begging - I'll just shove one in an envelope.

Thats very kind I'll mail you my address later. The wires in the
headlamp are all quite net and the flasher unit , that clicks nicely
for the other indicator, is wrapped in a pink spong sleave!..Its a
1979 vintage takeing off the indicators would be one route to the MOT
    I suppose

    Many thanks Chaps
this is a very helpful group

Teach a man to fish and he and his pikey mates will have the
river cleaned out in a day.

  11. Agreed. Do that, garraca, and let me know if you still want the spare
    flasher unit.
