  1. so here I am reinstalling all this software and it all keeps asking me
which language I would like the installation to proceed with. I get the
option of English, Japanese, German and Standard French. Standard
    French, WTF is that then?

  2. French French. Just like British English and American English are
different, so are 'le français standard' and the others. Choose Standard
    French every time.

Make sure you've got the proper country selected in "Language and regional
options" in the control panel (assuming Winders XP).

Oh right. I was confusing it with the fact that all the subsets of
English, except merkin, accept British English as the "mother" tongue
and sort of assumed that French and it's derivatives would be the same.

  8. It is. That's why the French spoken here in paradise is called 'standard'
    and the others aren't.

Oddly enough, Essex has never sought independence[1]. World domination
