If you've not done Faro, I sincerely suggest that you go. For your
fifteen euros (or however little it is), you get into the best rally in
Europe, you get a shit load of freebies (including T-shirts etc.), you
get to drink ultra-cheap quality beer with thousands of mellow, friendly
bikers (there's no attitudes there at all), while bathed in hot sun and
just five minutes ride from the beach

And the ride down to it is supposed to be amazing. I personally wouldn't
know, however, as the last time I tried to ride down I came just a
little too close to dying

I have sort of that impression. I really don't understand that need
that people feel to be part of the pack. Ok, so if someone likes
choppers that's fine. But why do they always have long hair and lots
of tattoos and pisspot helmets and sleeveless demin jackets over their
leather jacket with tassles?

So I suppose I'm afraid ("afraid" isn't the right word, but I'm not
sure what is) that if I were to go to a rally that the rally faithful
would look down on me.

And apart from that, I hate the idea of sleeping in a tent for a whole
weekend, shitting in a bucket and not having a shower for days.

 

Having spoken to you about it when you just got back, and having seen
the full length DVD, I'd probably love it. Mind you, I've a friend
who lives 8 miles from faro, so I'd probably stay there and get a cab,
to avoid kipping in a tent.

Poorly put on my part (I was in a rush to get a train) - It's not the
bike rally thing that I'm contemptuous about (if you like it then who am
I criticise, it's not for me though) it's the 'righteous' crap I was
directing the comment towards.

As Someone who's never been further than Coleraine on a bike, I can
honestly say I can't wait to a "proper" rally. Getting pissed and
dragged round in the mud by some copper riding hairy sounds like a right
fucking laugh and I can barely contain myself, even sitting here!
