  1. As a thank you for lending me your vid player (which, unfortunately,
didn't work...), I've made a little DVD for ya that contains a couple of
films that ain't out yet (although not the one with Hungary on it 'cos
I'm still doing that one) that also has a little special section purely
for you - and you know what that means...

Give me a bell 'cos I've managed to loose all your contact details
    again...

  4. It was an NTSC compliant VHS player - unfortunately, it produced a
signal capable of being played on a PAL TV rather than actually
converting the NTSC signal to a PAL one

Would this be the 'Hardcore' one I saw this morning? Some good stuff
on it, certainly. I particularly liked the three lads letting down the
    cop car's tyres...

*years* ago I watched some film about a riot on a US university campus
in the 60s where they sent in the national guard. Forget where at the
    moment.

I then walked home at 1:00 in the morning a little the worse for wear, a
three mile walk up a deserted road with no street lights. About halfway
home I saw a parked up police car (outside the local police cottage).
In those days I used to carry a small knife, as one did. I thought it
would be a jolly wheeze to stab his tyres.

So... got the knife out, knelt beside the car and pushed at the tyre
with my knife. It took a little doing but the knife went in. I twisted
it and pulled it out... and then shat myself at the amount of noise the
    escaping air made!

I ran about 1.5 miles uphill in minutes.

    I've not done that since.

Aren't the National Guard supposed to protect the population from the
government (hence the right to bear arms) or have I misremembered
    something?

I think the NG are essentially a civilian militia. Charged with the
internal defence of the nation and stuff.

Used in times of internal civilian emergency and external invasion.
