Whow! I have found the fountain of youth, post a semi serious subject onto
this list and vola you become younger. I had better patent this whilst I
can, and I always wanted to be back at school (not). If I had relised this
was such a serious group I would have written a formal Dear List post, my
mistake in accessing the audience available.

If you believe that to be taken seriously the topic must be presented in the
appropriate manner, you are unfortunately one of those people who judges
books by their cover. And those kind sir are the real losers in the world.

    Regards,

oh yeah? You will excuse me if I don't think "Conrad" is any more of a
    useful identifier than "Intact Kneeslider".

It's not as if anyone can look you up in the phone book.

Now me, I agree with IK's view of it - write properly, present well, and
you might get listened to. Be sloppy and then split the dummy (in a
way as schoolboyish as your manifesto) and you won't be.

The point of my first post seems to have been lost by some here more focused
on the quality (or lack there of) my typing. I will now state my position
removing any attempts to try add any colourful and to some humourous
components. (Those that feel compeled to critic my writing style and manner
I am sure there is another group more suitable to that type of thread, I am
not interested in been flamed or flaming others).

There is a trend with speed enforcement to set tolerance limits for drivers
and riders that are impossible to adhire to. Firstly the equipment we have
installed in our vehicles is designed and built to the design specification
of +-10% for speeds above 40km/h. With some states now handing out tickets
to drivers exceeding the limit by 5% this presents us with a problem, if the
speedo in your vehicle is designed and built to meet the design guideline
you must keep your speed below an indicated 57km/h on your display. Without
knowing the exact current calibration of your speedo system (and this will
vary over time and is dependant on factors such as tire diameter) you may be
have a true speed between 52km/h and 62km/h. This situation is made worst
by the fact that I do not know of any driver/rider who can keep their speed
within a 5% deadband of the speed limit whilst driving normally, with
normally defined as not having the eyes and attention overfocused on the
speedo and actually watching where they are driving (in fact my cruise
control in the car cannot keep the speed within a 5% deadband)

So what can be done to alter this current trend towards various governments
using speed tickets to unfairly fine most users of the roads today? My
experience in life has shown me that there will typically be three common
points of view on this, the first been fatalistic "its going to happen and
there is nothing that can be done to stop or change it", the second been
passively resistive "at the pub the situation is discussed and a topic of
converstaion for part of the night but no action towards the government
taken, and the last actively resistive "lets look at all the options
available to make this change". I fall into the last on a variety of topics
and issues. The idea to take any ticket I receive for speeding within the
10% deadband is one that I have decided to do if I happen to receive a
ticket, this action will be made all the stronger if others also take
similar action. This action is not the only avenue available and the
actions of the motorist lobby groups and others should be further supported
    and encouraged.

    Cheers

Point is you are setting yourself up for another round of ridicule.
your ideas may be sound but if you cannot communicate them then the
    message is lost.

This has been discussed ad nauseum and crossposted ad nauseum.

Cornered may be about right for this thread, yes my typing is shite buts
that life - pity this hasn't happened in a pub as we could have a beer about
    now.

I do make the stand that the statement 'if the grammar and spelling isn't
correct then you can't be taken seriously' is wrong and is really just a
form of snobbery. Just cause the bloke tells me in broken english and is
wearing rags that the bridge ahead is out do I still ride hard and fast
towards it, afterall his 'presentation' wasn't all that good or coherent?
(It seems that some of you would)

On the other hand, if a bloke in rags said "hey, give me your paycheck,
I can invest it and make millions", what would you do?

"Hi, I have a plan that will cause you lots of inconvenience and
expense, but might stop a few speed cameras going in. I can't spell, I
have no concept of logical argument, I deal in cliches, and there are
other indications I am not capable of thinking things through and I'm
poorly educated and have little knowledge of the things I speak of, but
hey! you shouldn't worry about that, just trust me"

Warning of impending danger is all good and well but this same bloke
in rags could also be telling you the coming apocalypse is upon us and
no one will take him seriously, yet if a learned scholar with
communication skills and educated opinions properly worded warns us of
the coming apocalypse many more people would sit up and listen.
Your proposition though, requires you to enunciate and communicate
    effectively.
Our lord Mayor John So in Melbourne can't string 3 words together
orally because of his heavy accent yet he is a very good communicator
by his presence, his ideas and his WRITTEN skills.

Again I state that what you have written adds nothing to the current
debate about speed and enforcement issues and these ideas have been
argued black and blue in this forum and others.
You have not offered anything of substance or interest or innovation
for the group to consume it's just a rehash of the same crap over and
    over.
    don't believe me?
do a groups.google search in this forum and aus.cars.
That's not being snobbish tht's being realistic.

1st listen to what he has to say and judge the proposal on the merits
of its content. Who knows he may have a good idea, in my work some of
the best ideas for improvements to a hi-tech factory control system
have been initiated by totally non-technical people who didn't finish
    high school.
At least I know that logical argument requires the parties to remain
on topic, attacking the other parties appearance, education, or grasp
of a language does not constitute a decent argument or debate. If you
can't be bothered taking a stand on the topic of unrealistic speed
enforcement don't. The only argument that has been taken against my
plan so far goes along the lines of 'your writing contains typos, and
some cliches which I don't believe or find funny, and it has been
stated by many others here' so it won't work. Show me how the plan
won't work and I will be willing to listen to your points (and I won't
    attack your writing style!).

For those that are interested some of the current advancements been
made in the field of 'speed enforcement' are briefly detailed below,
this is a global multi-billion dollar industry and we will see some
large amounts of money invested into R&D of new systems.

    1. Digital speed cameras. This will allow the authorities to speed up
the time it takes to issue tickets as these devices can transmit the
images directly to the computer speed ticket system. Other benefits
of using digital camera systems include lower operating costs with no
film to process and collect, and the ability to install the cameras in
previously unservicable areas such as in the road - this was
demonstrated recently with a proposal to the Vic goverment of devices
that look like cats-eyes and are installed into the road. When a
vehicle travels past the 'cat-eye' it detects the speed, if required
takes a photo and automatically transmits the image and data to the
ticket issuing system (refer to the article in the Australian in the
    week starting 2nd June).

    2. In-vehicle speed monitoring devices. With the availability of of
technologies such as GPS and faster wireless communications systems
such as GPRS (high speed digital radio/mobile phone networks) some
companies have already developed these in-vehicle systems. They have
been installed in vehicles used by couriers to monitor and track there
position, vehicle condition monitoring such as revs and gear
selection, idle times, speed etc. These systems can easily be used to
continously track your speed and location. When combined with one of
the computer systems that maps the GPS location to a database that
contains the speed limits it can automatically detect when and where
you exceeded the speed limit and issue a report/ticket. Personally
this type of system is what scares me the most - maybe the novel 1984
    wasn't all fiction?

  17. But that's the whole point which you seem completely unable to grasp,
    Connie... :)

You appear to have understood that all you're being pulled up for is your
sloppy typing, which you perplexingly seem to take pride in ("I'm so full of
ideas I don't have to worry about expressing them in a way which will make
them comprehensible"; yeah, that's a real good look.)

We read what you wrote, and in every single response to you, each of us has
    stated,

"You're peddling a bad idea which we've all heard a million times before,
using language which we've all heard a million times before, and you're
behaving as if both are original (further evidence of this, as presented in
the post being replied to, has been omitted in the interests of brevity)."

In other words, based on what you've said, and how you've said it, we're
informing you that not only can't you spell, or write, you can't think,
    either...

It may come as a total surprise to you but your proposal has been aired in
this very forum on several previous occasions.

I would suggest you do as you propose and let us know how you went in court.
You could also research the court records and let us know how many times
this has been tried in the courts and what the result was. Why not post the
original post in aus.cars? There are many more people drive cars than ride
    motorcycles and,

It would appear that some people in this group found your amazing idea not
only boring but boorish. As there was nothing interesting in the content,
    they picked on the context.
