    No, it isn't.

A Readymix truck holds (IIRC) six yards, I need three.

You pay for what you take, you pay a (slightly) lower amount for what
you *don't* take (i.e. I'd pay a bit less for the three yards I don't
    need).

If you can't take the complete load[1] they charge you a *shitload*[2]
for any that they take away.

There are blokes that'll turn up and mix what you need, you just barrow
it away, but they're also quite spendy and really not interested in a
    three yard deal.

[1] Quiet in the cheap seats!
[2] £90 a yard, and that was about seven years ago...

    Nigel Eaton says...
My Dad was concreting his workshop a few years back (about 60' x 40',
plus a bit of hardstanding) and took a half load to finish it off. Had
his half second, as it were, so ended up with a bit more than half.

Being the miserly **** that he is it must have been reasonably cheap,
you want me to ask who he got it from?

I'd give you a hand, but we'll be in Scotland.

I reckon most of those loads are got from a "bloke as knows". The
Readymix guys are all (AFAIK) owner-operators. And those part loads end
up somewhere... I'll settle for bags of "stuff" from my local friendly
builders merchants, and a bunch of willing suck^H^H^H^H volunteers, ta.
In October? You poor, poor bastard. Make sure she packs the kinky
    undies.

  6. It was somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the
drugs began to take hold. I remember Nigel Eaton
Aye, if you go through the front door, kind of thing. You can put your
name on a list for a part load at reduced price; only drawback is you
might need to hop to it at very short notice indeed.

There's the MiniMix option, of course. Trucks half the size of RM.
