  1. Mr.RC45's QB carbon tail cowl is finally done... Jody the Bikeman did the
painting... my design was to outlined the carbon weave in white then clear coat
    over the whole mess...

I worked with a local graphics shop to replicate the "RC45" and the "PGM FUEL
INJECTION" into stickers which were clear coated over...

I fabricated a door into the butt rest for storage and secured it with aircraft
    Dzus fasteners...

I always wanted a show quality paint job on light weight carbon fiber and have
    a usefull storage space...

The white is too flat and plain against the carbon fiber. it
needs a pin stripe laid in at the juncture... or better wait
until the fairing is done and pin stripe it then.

Myself Id fog in some grey lace, about 15% density on the
pigment, just faintly, with a pink cast to it ...in a 2" wide
stripe down the center of the white area. Id also do something
in the carbon fiber area, not much but a little color in
there.. a color consultant would work for you I think.
Whatever you end up with should be done with the fairing on,
so it all flows and balances.

    imo

  8. Carbon fiber tail cowl was only 15 ounces...

    Stock Honda ABS 4 pounds...

however the paint added 2 pounds 4 ounces...

so I only saved 13 ounces...

Total cost $700.00 that's $53.00 per ounce weight savings...

But I can shave my legs for free...

  12. Too much clear... but it's the only way to cover bare carbon fiber enough to
give that wet appearance... oh well...

  13. Considering the time you spend on it, shouldn't the goal be loftier? I can
take a run of mill suzuki, pitch the pipe and some stock bodywork, run half
a tank of gas and get to 400 pounds wet....for Mr RC45 wouldn't 350 pounds
    wet be a better number?
