to go with my new bike, i'm gonna get a new helmet, my old flip lid helmet
    was pretty noisey.

I like the look and feel of the Caberg Justissimo helmet, it's the latest
model i'm looking at, flip front, internal flip down sun visor thingy, can
be converted to an open face lid, can take that expensive caberg blootoof
intercom thingy, wind guard under the chin, rain lips and so on.

they seem to get good reviews, but i'm never sure how much to trust them,
and the most often mentioned review was done by mcn in 2003, and i'm looking
    at the 2008 lid.

anyone wear one of these lids? what's it like for wind noise?, that's my
    main concern.

The other helmet in the shop i seen is a very similar design to the caberg,
but made by takachi, no idea of the model number tho, but not even sure if
takachi are a decent make, caberg i know/think are fairly decent,

Caberg are shit - the interior lining will compress too much over too
short a time, leaving you with a helmet made for someone 2 sizes bigger
    than you are.

Takachi helmets are Nitros with different badges, and are a **** sight
better designed and made than any Caberg lid on the market.

    ****, thanks for that,

trying to find that takachi flip lid with the internal sun visor on the
interweb, but cant seem to find the bugger, saw it in j&s in kimberly, but
even they dont list it on their wew site.

is there a make of flip lid i should consider where wind noise is an issue,
i know i really should forget about flip lids for a quiet helmet, but there
must be some that are well enough designed to be usable at speed.... idealy
costing around £150, but i guess that's gonna be a problem.

okies, will forget about gaberg lids then.
well, looking cool would only work with me till i open my mouth, then i'll
be revealed to the utter **** i really am.
tho i really could have done with the sun visor thingy on the rid home with
the new bike, heading towards nottingham from norfolk at 7pm, the fekin sun
was in my eyes most of the way.
I never said i'd get one tho, i'm more than happy to tether my self to my
bike with a coily stretchy headset cord between me lid and the dash or where
ever i put the socket for a built in intercom... with a pillion mute switch
    close to hand of course.
Ahh right, the caberg was the first lid i tried on that has that flappy
rubber bit under the chin on a flip front, but then again my last flip front
cost me 49.99, so adding the flappy rubber wind stopper thingy would have
added a penny to the price, and the scooter bois wouldent have gone for it.
Ahhh, but i ride a transalp, so sit upright, i did wonder about the lids
with those spoilers on the back of them, they seemed angled wrong for sit up
riding, but of course most people ride crotch rockets, so you want the
spoiler to guide the wind over your arse that's sticking up in the air.
Well, he's told me caberg are shite, and i believe him, and you, he's said
takachi are better than caberg, so i shall look at the takachi in more
    detail tommorow.. **** it's almost 3am again,

ok will look at it today then, after i've been to the honda dealer to try
and get me deposit back for the bike we asked for last week, he's told me no
refund cos he ordered a top box for the bike, so i said i want the top box
to sell on ebay then as i've paid for it, he then said the bikes prolly gone
through the workshop now (was booked in for thuresday for it's pdi etc,
canceled on wednesday), so the 100 quid deposit i paid is going to have to
cover the workshop bills he rekons, fucking salesmen, and i was going to
take my transalp to them for it's services too, but **** them, i'll find
another dealer (or an independant garage that can satisfy the honda
warrenty) even if i have to go to derby or mansfield (there may be more than
one in nottingham, havent looked yet)

Didn't happen with either mine or Katie's. (I have the original
Justissimo and she has the 'GT' upgraded version).

I like mine, and also use it in the cage on track days, where the flip
    is very handy.

Thanks for that info. I hadn't heard of Takachis until I got one as a
loaner along with a Bandit last time I was knocked off, and I took the
option to buy it afterwards for a fiver.[1]

I found it comfy, although slightly tight as I allowed for compression
as the helmet was cheap but it didn't compress at all in the four months
that I wore it every day.
I've replaced it with a flip-front now due to finding them easier with
my specs, I've kept the Takachi as a spare but I'll look for a Takachi
    flip next time.

[1] The helmet, not the bike. The bike would have been £50.

Not the factory, but certainly the design studio and the bloke who
    cleans at the warehouse.
*ding*, but she doesn't work there any more.

I have one. Mine hasn't gone loose, ok it's a bit noisy but
I have a BIG screen in front of me.
I love the internal sun visor. The 'cool' quotient is
redundant, but the shading serves me well.

A lot of instructors use Caberg flip helmets, they are rather noisy, I said
    "THEY ARE RATHER NOISY".

My boy's first helmet was a Takachi. The finish was shite and chipped
    off quite badly.

Still a touch on the noisy side, but the noise comes from air getting up
under the chin bar area. Make up a curtain and it gets deathly quiet.
Both mine and the wife's coped well with our off.
See above/ I'd be hard pressed to change for anything other than a super
    lightweight carbon thingy.
    No idea about them.

well, i decided aginast the caberg in the end, they had a tekachi TK-86N
next to the caberg at 50 quid less,

The takechi looked a lot cooler, mini spoiler thingy on the back, lots of
fancy meshed vents at the back, and the liner was much better than the
caberg, it has a sort of air circulation area cut into the lining above the
head, it makes my hair stick up strangely after wearing it, but i figured
that'll mean lots of air floating around the oustide of my head as i ride
(to add to the air flaoting around inside my head.

The only 'feature' the caberg had the takechi didnt was a flap under the
chin, and to be honnest i thought that'd irritate me even more than the
strap and my jacket collar does (i shave in the morning, but as soon as some
stubble starts to come through, it's fuckin rubbing on everything, i look
even more of a twat with a beard tho)

The takachi just seemed to fit better than the caberg as well, it sort of
popped onto my head, my ears sprang out into the cut outs, and it felt
    right.

so i got one in matt black (i wanted the blue one caberg did to match the
transalp, but fucked if im going for a more expensive but not as good lid
    just for the colour)

In use, it's very aerondynamicaly styled, my head felt the same weight going
30 or 100 mph, all my other lids my head's felt heavier as it gets pushed
back as the speed risies, even the lid i was wearing last night on this
    bike.

Wind noise, it's not silent, but it's the quietest lid i've worn, prolly due
to my bike and it's screen, the wind noise is the same at 30mph as it is at
80, and with this lid i cant silence it by pushing my hand against it in
different places, last flip lid there were about 5 places it needed someting
to block the wind to quieten it.

The flip down fighter pilots visor thingy if foookin cool mind, nice and
easy to operate via a lever on the side, had to adjust my mirrors a little
so i dont get the line where the sun visor ends right where im looking at
    the mirror,

I suffer tinitus, but after a 70 mile ride today my ears are pretty normal
in respect of ringing, with my last lid they would be ringing for hours.

And Sam says she gets hardly any buffeting from my lid now, the one this
replaced knocked her head about with the wind a fair bit at speed,

So if you ride a bike like a transalp, you can do far worse than this
helmet, but bear in mind i havent tried that many lids in my life, so i
don't have a clue what i'm talking about... as usual

    Seems reasonable.
Earplugs. Never leave home without 'em.
That's something I could think about myself.
Not a transalp what I ride.

  18. If you suffer from tinnitus, they _never_ stop ringing. Ever.

  19. But sometimes they go *bong* too. Or mine does. And it's more of a
whistle (top E) than a ring..
