Unless a politician is involved in kiddy-fiddling, bank robbing, taking
bribes or serious sexual crimes, I really couldn't give a shit about
their private lives.

As an example:
So what if the PotUSA had a blowjob from a 'researcher'? She was willing
to give it and probably enjoyed it; being a political junky herself. How
many women can honestly say they've blown the Pres?

Another one:
That MP (Mark Oaten?) shagging the rent boy? Who cares? Not me, unless
it affected his ability to do his job.

Another one:
Bertie Ahern is looking more and more likely to have taken a brown
envelope or two during his rise. That, I find disgraceful and the ****
should resign.

 

He wasn't just lying to his wife though, was he.
I do think that politicians should never lie. Declare silence or decline
to reply but not lie.

 

I'd put both of these on the same level as lying in terms of fitness to
be a politician. I realise it's not a fashionable viewpoint.

I believed Saddam was up to nuclear tricks
There, that's my gift for the day.

That he appear to have not done so, rather pursued some easy non
sophisticated chemical weapons, says a lot about him and his regime.
Basically just a bunch of thieving murdering medieval sand Arabs. Now
that should have been obvious to 10 years of good intelligence
gathering.

 

There was no civil war until the self-righteous and reckless Bush-Blair
"Let's ****-up the World" factory went in. As Phil Launchbury and I and
others have pointed out, the destruction of Iraq's virtually entire
infrastructure [with the remarkably 'lucky' exception of the energy
ministry] created total administrative chaos. That, cleverly allied with
the understandable resentment towards the 'invaders', allowed anarchic
street-rule to establish itself.

Bush put himself forward as President. Nobody forced him to do the job; he
wanted it. He permitted the outrageous manipulation of the votes in Florida
[Jeb Bush, Gov.] which enabled him and them to 'steal' the 2000 election.
Even if he is the glove-puppet of the hypocritical neocons that many people
think he is, he must bear the responsibility for turning a working, secular
[although admittedly brutal] Arab state into a lawless basket-case.

This is going to haunt 'us' for generations. It was an unnecessary 'vanity'
war, and I detest and despise both governments for starting it.

 

So they will either be left as a working democracy or in the stoneage
and unable to assist islamic terrorists in producing advanced weapon.
Gets my vote. Iran next.

On a brighter note. It has been pointed out to me that the US economy
could be in for a rather rough ride over the next 6-10 years. Rather a
good time for the Republicans to take a back seat lol.
