    Nah.

    <thinks>

She seems eminently qualified to sit on the UK Usenet committee.

    This is UKRM.

Nobody is taking an interest, it's just that we're reading this whilst
    waiting for other things.

If you want something to do, you could research the Beverly Park Hotel
in Playa Del Ingles, Gran Canaria & let me know how good/shit it is.

I've been past it, it's a hotel in Playa, which is all you really need
to know. Playa del Ingles is a fucking hole.

If you're trying to find somewhere worth staying in GC, shift your
sights a couple of miles down the road to Maspalomas. There are some
decent looking hotels on the seafront (the likes of the Riu Clubhotel or
Riu Palace Meloneras in particular), so long as you don't mind being
    surrounded by Germans.

    You beat me to it!
Maspalomas is better than PdI. I've only had a week in GC and that was
staying close to Puerto Rico, which wasn't too bad.

I don't necessarily mind a hole, as long as it's a hole by the sea, but
    noted anyway.
    <Quick Google>

Ah. This is meant to be a _cheap_ bit of winter sun, without the
thrills. Nice as they look, a couple of quick quotes put the Palace
    about 250 quid over budget.

It's like Blackpool on acid. Absolutely horrible, regardless of its
    proximity to water.

I've only ever done self catering apartments in Maspalomas, since there
are plenty of restaurants around [1] and a taxi to Playa if you need
some nightlife cost about 2 quid.

Went first time on an "accommodation allocated on arrival" late deal and
wound up at the Campo Golf Bungalows [2] - basic, but did the job
nicely. Last time we opted for the Green Golf apartments [2], which were
    actually pretty good.

http://www.peng.nl/gci/images/map_maspalomas.jpg might come in handy for
    picking a location.

[1] Amaiur, by the Campo Golf bungalows, was pretty decent

  10. So Far? Far, I suppose, for an ex-drunk, ex-cokehead with signs of
addiction brain damage. Far, I suppose, for a redneck wanker. Not so far
for the son of a President who had all the backing he could ever wish
for and who had an election or several bought for him.

****, a monkey on a stick could have won the elections Bush Jnr did.

Christ, you and Ken Starr, what a team you'd have made.

  13. Depends what you think the committee does, of course. And how one gets both
    nominated and elected.

  16. Actually, you're right mostly, and that in my view is a Good Thing. We're
not there to impose anything, it's more of a check and balance. Ensuring
that agreed and voted for process is followed, if that makes sense. So, if
we've got nothing to do, it tends to mean that the system is working.

  19. At the time Shrub got elected my manager was a gay bloke from
California. He *hated* Shrub with a passion - and when the election
result was announced was going round muttering "can't they see he is
    just a puppet"?

I'm not surprised. Who'd want a job where you have to shag fat, ugly
    burds who smell of wee?
