Buying finger twitching again

Discussion in 'UK Motorcycles' started by Wicked Uncle Nigel, Nov 10, 2007.

  1. I think I'm in the market for a 650 V-strom, or similar.

I want something for the commute, the GTR's not really the ideal
    cross-country missile for that.

Anybody got something cluttering up their garage that they want to out?

Too big. I might as well use the GTR as a Tiger.

Hmm... Tiger *feels* bigger, IME. And I don't want oodles of power, I've
got the GTR for that. I just want something relatively lightweight and
narrow for getting to and from work.

Just hope you would better than some +40 yr born again I saw riding a
lovely new one breaking at the bottom of a steep hill with both feet
on the ground in a nice splayed pattern...

think he was missing his stablisers.

The bike did look tidy though.

  12. I know Fins. Small-time independent on the edge of Redhill. Bought some
bits when I worked there, and a friend bought his FJ1200 from them. They
    seem honest and friendly.

That V-Strom, though, is on the steep side, as BGN says....

I was really looking for something with slightly better filtering
    ability that the QEII.

    You won't want a V-strom then.

The bars actually go over the tops of most cars mirrors but SUVs/trucks
can be a problem. I gave up filtering with the side cases mounted [1] as
    I kept hitting cars.

    [1] It's wider than a Gold Wing (43")

I quite agree, I have a 52l top box for filtering mode.
The V-Strom with Givi E35s is wider than a BMW 1200GS with the BMW side
    cases.
