buying a repairable write-off at auction

  1. Just wondering if anyone knows if/where info can be found on
historical data for repairable write-offs bought at auction? I know
auction prices are going to be variable depending on a number of
factors, but it would be handy to get a ballpark sense for what to
    expect.

From what I have seen, the price of wrecks at auction is quite
unpredictable, but likely to be quite low if the bike is an unpopular
model, and quite high if the bike is a popular model. For example have
seen auction results where a cosmetically damaged, but rideable bike was
sold for less than a very mangled R1/R6 on a pallet. Go figure.

  3. Thanks Nev (and others), that's pretty much what I had suspected. oh
well, guess there's nothing to it but to keep a close eye on the
market and hope the cash is there at the same time as the
    opportunities, if/when they arise.
