If one was to get tired of carrying round a basic Nokia 1100 mobile
*and* an old, clunky Dell Axim X5 PDA, what would the mobilistii
recommend as a good phone for a clumsy oaf who wants good Outlook
synching and is not too bothered about camera, MP3 player,
    polywhotsits, coffee maker functionality?

I have my eye on the Nokia 6230i if I can find one for a good price.

XDA Mini S aka Orange SPV M6000

    Seconded.

O2 have a decent deal on them at the moment, 50 squid for the handset
with a 12 month contract at £19 per month.

At least I hope it's a good deal, cause I've just bought one to replace
my ageing Sony Ericsson P800 (which totally rocked too a couple of years
    ago).
