Can't remember; I read it years ago. I think he might have sold one
    of the bikes, or something.

They sold both bikes. Like, nobody ever sells bikes.

Have you got anything of value that I can have bagsies on?

AFAIR, they don't have many roundabouts in the US either.

They don't need them. They just challenge each other at junctions, the guy
with the biggest car/gun/stomach wins, and the loser eats shit and dies.
Roundabouts are a Commie trick that screws up the American Right of Way.

I did this back in '99. I bought an FJ1200 in LA from a dealer rode 16,000
miles around North America and sold the bike back to the same dealer 10
    weeks later.

I bought it for $4800 and sold it for $2700, I more than doubled the milage
on it though and it had a few mechanical problems. If I'd known I would be
returning to the same dealer I may've been able to negotiate a better deal.

I don't remember the insurance costs but it wasn't cheap. Third party is
compulsory but I went for full insurance, there are some very crime ridden
areas in the US and I managed to find a lot of them. Licencing was not a
problem at all. I was told to get the top level medical insurance as the US
medical system is not something you want to be at the mercy of.

It may be a lot cheaper these days with the US$ taking such a dive but that
also pushes up the prices of the bikes.

All in all it was an amazing experience, something I'd like to do again
after checking out a few more continents.

That's not the problem; I think you're being unthinkingly pugilistic. Have
you anything to add beyond suggesting its use as a measure of "brightness"?

Fucksake, if riding on the other side causes you to forget how to go
round a corner, I think he's right and you must be a bit thick.

Not exactly curing cancer, is it?

    Didn't say it was. By all means, come on over; buy the bike, don't rent;
skimp on the insurance; and don't pay any special attention to how traffic
    differs.

Has it ever occurred to you that many, or even perhaps most, of the
folk on here have travelled extensively, including driving/riding in
several right-hand-roaded countries in Europe and North America? Of
course there are differences, but 99% of them are unconnected by what
side of the road you're on.

Who's talking to you, Fuckwad? I'm special, too. Hell, I hardly ever think
about countersteering except to talk about it.
