    Hi,

I'm going to look at a Bandit 600 on Sunday with a view to buy - its a
faired, year 2000. It's done 9000 miles and is £2500

Anything in particular I should look for?

    Cheers.

  3. Two wheels.

(and that sounds expensive to me, but I'm not qualified to make that an
    official statement).

    A 1200.

Don't want to go too mad just yet - it's 10 years since I last rode...

Seems to be about the going price from the Private sales in Autotrader.co.uk

Then you'll be astonished just how easy these modern things are to
ride. You should cut out the bandit altogether and go straight for a
    gixxer thuogh. YKIMS.

The B12 is an easy bike to ride, honest.

And the 600 is cheaper to buy, run and insure - which matters. The gits
won't let me have my previous 6 years NCB, so I'm starting again.

The same could be said for all bikes.

    I think it's about £400 overpriced.
That the person selling it owns it?
    Front wheel bearings.
    Sticky brake caliper pistons
Look for any signs of damage on the lower part of the engine.
    Fork seals

Apart from that they're strong and sound bikes.

The prices of old Bandits suprise me. When I traded mine in last year
it went in the showroom at £2,500. Given that it had done 17,000 miles,
had a dent in the petrol tank and a dent in one of the frame tubes. I
was a little suprised. even more so to find that it sold, although I
don't know at what final price.
But they all do that, sir. I found myself stripping the brakes every
couple of months to keep them working nicely.
    Agreed. And fun, too.

    Wot they said plus:

Put the bike on centre stand. Get seller to rest on rear of seat so
front tyre comes up off the ground and see how smooth it is to turn
    the bars.

If it's stiff or loose it may simply need adjusting.
If it's uneven (loose/stiff/loose IYSWIM) it *may* have had a bump at
    the front end.
