Hi I'm looking for a replacement for my GPZ900. I want something that is at
least as quick (acceleration wise) and hopefully not too much more bulky. I
need to ride to the city every day so lanesplitting ability is also
important! I also have the occasional passenger on board. I'd really like
something like one of the latest litre sportbikes but am limited to
somewhere around the $6000 price range so that's obviously out of the
    question!

Im was thinking of maybe getting a ZZR 1100 (mid 1990's?). Having never even
sat on one yet I'm after any advice you learned readers can provide me. I
know they're fairly heavy but would it fit the bill? Any other suggested
bikes? (Brand not really an issue though I have a soft spot for Kwakas after
years of reliable service from the GPZ). Maybe a ZX9R would be a better
choice (if I can get one cheap enough)? What do ya reckon????

    I have had a 96 ZZR1100 D4 since 98 I love it, yes it is a bit heavy but I
have never found it to be a problem and it fits the bill of what you want,
also your passenger will thank you that you did not buy a straight sports
bike as seating position is passenger friendly. I ride mine around Melbourne
and short trips 600 kms a day and long trips Central Australia and Brisbane,
the bike has never given me one bit of trouble in the eight years I have
    owned it.

Twist hard enough, and six grand should be able to get you a C-model
    ('98-'99) ZX-9R. At 213kg wet, they're almost 60kg lighter than a
ZZ-R1100-D. The seating position will feel weird to someone used to an
80's bike at first, particularly the size of the tank, but it's like
having a long-time Anthrax fan hear System of a Down; after a couple of
goes, you figure out it's just a variation on a theme...
