Sure glad you cleared that up before I had to use my massive powers of
office .. 'Sides.. everyone knows that Mike is a bicycle advocate that wants
dedicated lanes on the freeway for his friends to pedal down and obstruct
traffic... And.. I'd like to point out that Mike should be free to purchase
his shirts and pants at Wal-Mart, K-Mart or anywhere else he cares to.. Keep
on cycling Gladu.. I'm on your side for this one.. Sorry .. IceMan.. gotta
call 'em the way I see'em.. In my official capacity, that is.. Privately ..
I agree with you.. I am sure you understand.. Damn.. did I mention how much
I appreciate the trailer you gave me..

S'cuse the interrupt... weren't you the avid "catalog" buyer, who made a
In fact, I just bought a Honda sissy bar for my Nighthawk at
http://www.planethonda.com/ . Gave me a good discount and
UPS'd it to me. I would put up a picture but I DROPPED my
stupid digital camera and broke it while taking another picture
    of my bike !

I bought my helmet at the local Honda shop because the people
there showed me the helmet I needed and helped me determine
the correct size. They even gave me a 15% discount because it
had a very small ding. It now has about 20 dings because I
dropped it last Saturday while I was getting back on my bike.

    Yup, I got the droppsies.

    Thanks,
    Lynn

The battle scars only add character to a good helmet..LOL.. Should see
mine.. That ol' Bieffe dates back nearly twenty years, been relined
numerable times, needs it again.. Looks like I dragged it behind the bike
all the way from Guadalajara.. But it has character, it fits and I like it..
No matter what kind of fashion statement it is making...LOL

Better check back with whataburger, Charles.. Seems to me, during our little
exchange, the other night in Austin, IceMan mentioned your name and you have
been banned too .. Not to worry, though, I am working on it, as we speak..

Lighten up, Mike.. Just pullin' your chain a bit.. Been thinking about
getting into the "bicycle" thing myself.. Trouble is, I can't afford to buy
the Spandex, all you guys wear out there.. Maybe you and the IceMan could
get a movement going on to donate me some of the shiny stuff.. While you are
at it, I've always admired those funny little helmets you guys wear.. The
bike I am interested in has a busted chain and the seat doesn't look quite
right.. All donations and support will be appreciated.. In the event, all
these items aren't readily available, cash donations would be welcomed.. See
what you can do.. OK.. LOL

I think you probably have something there. Thing is, I was careful
NOT to speak against what he was saying. I wanted to understand what
he was saying, which seemed to offend him. I guess the offense I
heaped upon that one was to question his perspective as the only
    legitimate one.

No matter where you go, there you are.

    <rest snipped for brevity>

It seems to me that a lot of what is paraded before us as "patriotism"
actually reduces us -- from citizens to consumers. Not so subtle
shifts are made and some people seem to swallow anything that is
attached to flag and country or God and country, regardless of how
    absurd that attachment is.

Holding a personal ethic identical with the masses is certainly one's
perogative. Holding a personal ethic different from the masses is
also one's perogative. It is my opinion that both of those choices
comes with a price. It would be naive to think otherwise.

I tend to pity the lives that are so shallow as to take great pride in
being swindled. I TEND to pity, but there are two things that bring
    me around from that:

    1. I have a pretty good idea of how this can happen.

    2. That would pretty arrogant on my part and I'm above that
    sort of thing. :)

Keep your head up and keep looking where you want to go. (Thought I'd
throw that in from the Motorcycle Riders Course, helping to cover that
    topical base, you know.)

Nope, you are correct ! Got a sissy bar (also known as a backrest)
    http://www.planethondaracing.com/cgi-bin/phr3/153.html . Other
than having to cut my back cowling ?, it was easy to install. Now I
can transport all of my biker babes in style ! Or, at least I am assured
that they wont fall off when I goose it. I can also tie a milk jug to it so
that now justifies me using my bike to go to the store.

Do you believe there are lines that should not be crossed regarding
employee compensation? Or is it anything goes?

Again, do you believe there is any such thing as irresponsible
    "development"?
How seriously have you looked into it? (For the obtuse who may be
reading, I'm not making any claims about Wal-Mart's pollution record,
I'm asking about the extent of Mr. Gladu's research.)
How evil do they have to be? I've posted one link to a story -- have
    you read it?

And I question whether or not Wal-Mart does meet the standards most
Americans want in a discount store. I think one reason for the lack
of "outcry" is that there is an awful lot that folks just don't know.
Sometimes prefer ignorance -- mostly when it is sufficiently
    convenient.

Well, of course I agree with you. I also think Mike and every other
Wal-Mart customer should keep in mind that the dollars they give the
clerk on the way out of the store is not the only cost they're paying.
Out of curiosity, is this specifically a motorcyle trailer, or a
    standard open trailer?
    Keep up the good work.

Actually, it's not only union that they don't want. They don't care if
their employees have a safe working environment and/or are paid
comparible(sp?) to their labor. Walmart intentionally hires employees
based on their risk of whether they'd file a claim against Walmart and
whether that employee knows their rights as an employee. They are more
than happy to work hourly employees beyond 40 hours/week without
correct compensation. Many of the rights of employees are ignored by
    Walmart.

Of any place still in need of a labor union, retail stores are the
place. And this is not to say Sears is any better than Walmart for
their labor practices. JC Penneys is the worst I've ever found. Sears
would be a close second by paying their employees below minimum wage
and choosing instead to pay on commission. When the pay and commission
is completed, the employee only made an equal check to someone making
$8 or so an hour...if they've had a good week. JC Penneys is the same
way, but instead of their commission being a fair commission, they
deduct from the commission for their own expenses.
    I don't know what he's referring to.

I WOULD like to know which retail store Charles knows of that cares
about people and the environment though.

THAT'S IT.. Remedial action is called for .. There will be no furthur
tolerance concerning that ol' mess.. I will be contacting Tom Ridge
immediately, since this is obviously a severe threat to Homeland Security..
All Whataburger establishments will be placed under surveillance without
furthur delay.. Until furthur notice or corrective action is taken by
Whataburger, as Grand Wazoo Wizardly Moderator I am hereby restricting
access to those restaurants by all within range of this newsgroup.. Let that
be a damn lesson to them.. Those folks got no idea who they are messing with
    in this case..
