    This was the first posting I saw on the subject knobby doodle

    I have seen plenty of things used as a lubricant over the years,
    You use a lubricant to stop friction
    I have seen animal skins used to stop friction
    but it might depend on what you want to lubricate
    animal fat is a lubricant
    margarine is an oil which can be used as a lubricant
    cooking oil can be used as a lubricant
    mineral oil is used as a lubricant
    vegetable oil is used as a lubricant
    butter is animal fat which can be used as a lubricant
    and Marlon Brando got the tart to lubricate his arse-hole with butter
