We went on the Eye. I am not afraid of heights and am a Londoner, so
enjoyed finding loads of landmarks. Owen is afraid of heights and
loved it too - enjoys being scared also.
When I was a student, we did a trip to Alton Towers. Riding on the
cable car/monorail (I can't remember either), I got us all to jump up
and point and scream when a car came the other way. We all got chucked
off at the next stop, which was in the middle of nowhere, and had to
    walk. It was worth it.
Never done that - seen it from below. Must do.

Would this be because, aside from you, most of the other management catch a
    taxi?

    Sometimes, so do I
Didn't find it at all scary. I find ladders much more frightening.

    Really worth it though
I didn't do rides until I started riding........

  7. A myth. We no longer have company cars either - thankfully.

Despite what people may think I can't think of anyone who works for LU
who does not use the Tube to get to and from work or use it to get to
meetings or for leisure purposes. Plenty of people also use the
National Rail network in addition to the tube to get to work - many
travelling long distances like you do.

  8. Oh sort of. I have forced myself to go up big towers etc when on
holiday so I can at least say I've done it. I've stood on the glass
floor of the CN tower in Toronto which is rather odd. I did find the
open to the air observation deck fairly terrifying.

Strangely I love the main observation level on the Empire State Building
    - perhaps because the view is so amazing.
Oh deadly serious. What was mildly amusing was watching my colleagues
completely failing to understand how to use a ticket machine to buy a
ticket and then being mortified at how high the single fares were. They
were also baffled as to how I took 2 seconds to use a ticket machine and
get the right ticket out of it - err hello remember what job I used to
    do?!?

  9. That seems rather familiar. I was not the only person hanging on for
grim death though. Solidarity in adversity.
I seem to recall having a horrendous migraine by the end of the
    "management team session".
I think you mean "were closed for refurbishment". It's like that every
weekend these days with added Victoria Line disasters so that if I ever
did want to get to the centre of town I wouldn't be able to.

  10. Hmm - not sure I can pick out the differences to be honest.
If you say so - what makes you reach that conclusion?

  11. But if the purchase of said bike simply reinforces stereotypes? Not
everyone wants to walk round living "a lifestyle" or "an image".

Given, in one of Paul's replies, that his colleagues singularly failed to
work the ticket machine, had no concept of the fares and other
fundamental points of public transport I'd have said it wasn't that
    stupid.

the fact the Suzuki is a bit flabbier makes it more of a proper "retro"
to me. I think Honda have tried too hard with the CB1300 - in the same
way as Kawasaki with the bulbous-fairing ZRX1200S monstrosity. These
bikes aren't supposed to have any nods towards ergonomics - they're
just stupidly big engines in old-school frames but with modern-ish
    running gear.
    that's Flounce City Borders, no?

  20. OK understand now.
No not really - just a sense that I was in the darsy "bozo bin" along
with almost everybody else. Just a remark that's all - I'm not sitting
here crying my eyes out with disappointment.
