Eh? What has Slough sb got to do with Reading? Anyway, to be pedantic,
the Thames does not run through Reading, it runs along one edge of
Reading, with the (used to be) separate town of Caversham on the other
side. Reading grew up on the Kennet and spread out until it reached
the Thames, where it stopped.
