Burgman 400

  1. Just had a spin on one, as my neighbour has just scored himself a
    bargain of a T-reg minter[1].

It's really bloody good. Quite quick[2], handles well[3] and the brakes
    are *excellent*.

Downside - presumably to endow it with some form of stability it has a
wheelbase like a Gold Wing, and it needs damn nearly as muchroad to do a
U-turn as my Ducati. And it's a teeny bit gay.

But as a suburban runaround that's up to long trips - pretty good, if
    you can get one cheap[4].

  2. One of my IAM associates earlier this year had one - bloody quick off the
mark, think it might give a blade, if not a run for its money, a bit of a
surprise up to 40 or so. That's the beauty of the twist and go - revs just
go up to peak torque and stay there while it alters the gearing. That has to
beat hitting peak torque once in each gear. Passed the test as well,
including the slow riding, so must have adequate manoueverability. Top
working bike I reckon in lots of ways.

The observational skills of the rider (IME) is usually crap though.
