**** off yourself. He 'slowed to a halt', thereby causing the car to hit him. A car can easily avoid a bike, should the driver wish to do so, given the road conditions and various other factors. Having recently had a very *very* near altercation regarding a cager, this particular incident smacks of *I'm very pissed off, lets have a go at the cager*, my recent(ish) indicent was more of 'thank **** the idiot decided to go the other way, given I had well run out of options' scenario. If you've done your advanced with DC, you learn to deal with such situations easily. 2 Years ago I would've chased the cager up the M57, a coupla weeks ago, after almost being knocked off the bike by the bloody idiot, I didn't see reason behind chasing him, more a 'thank **** I was aware and heard [1] him alongside. When I wrote off my CB750, I did it by ramming an Audi up the arse, followed by a neat rotation around the bars until I landed on my back on his bootlid and rear window, leaving a neat pair of bootheel dents in his roof. This was in stop-go-stop traffic on the 4-lane M6 approaching the M62 junction on a cold wet and particularly *dark* night when the tarmac was evilly slippery. I thought I was at fault. I'd looked to my left preparatory to changing lanes, looking at leaving the M6 at the next junction - returning to looking forward, the Audi driver had moved from L3 to L4 - and braked ... to a stop. In normal conditions I could have stopped, even though he'd cut my distance down. But I couldn't/didn't, despite my best efforts - and that was that. A year or more later, a resolution was reached by the insurers: despite the note on my insurance reading "Hit TP in rear" it is also marked "No Blame attached". There was no NCD with that policy, it being "classic insurance" and I claimed on my Comprehensive policy in any case, so it would have been shredded in any case, had there been any. I still think it was a result though, as it has not affected my premiums.
Yes, but there was no chance of the other party claiming in those cases. -- Catman MIB#14 SKoGA#6 TEAR#4 BOTAFOF#38 Apostle#21 COSOC#3 Tyger, Tyger Burning Bright (Remove rust to reply) Alfa 116 Giulietta 3.0l (Really) Sprint 1.7 75 TS 156 TS S2 Triumph Speed Triple: Black with extra black bits www.cuore-sportivo.co.uk
Yes, yours does seem to be a different situation. Being hit from behind is not a clear case by any means. Circumstances can always be different. In my case I was being followed by three or four cars in a 30mph town road (at night). I had to brake hard to avoid a stationary car that was turning right (or waiting to), but not indicating, and was not on the brakes either. The three cars following me hit each other, and mine was written off. I would have avoided the stationary car if I hadn't been hit from behind first.
I informed my insurance (Carole Nash) when I had mown down yet another pedestrian. Their view was if they claim, they claim and we'll deal with it, if they don't, they don't. Hasn't changed my premium and I renewed it recently.

Interesting reading the responses on here. I couldn't tell you why I decided to pull him over but I can tell why it wasn't; Physical violence hadn't entered my mind (at that point anyway, after speaking to the bloke I was all for punching him), it's not something I'm usually interested in and I would normally shy away from it unless poked with sticks for a prolonged period. At a guess I would say seeing that it was a driving instructor had some bearing on my actions - some people you expect that sort of action from but others maybe not, perhaps subconsciously I needed an explanation? Bearing in mind I was on a 40mph dual carriageway at the time of the incident I really don't think he had any reason to hit me however I may or may not have been braking. I know for a fact that I did not brake hard and I certainly did not cut in front of him- I've been riding long enough to know who would come off worse in that situation. I can only think that as has been suggested above, the instructor was not expecting to be pulled over and therefore allowed himself to get too close to me without foreseeing the fact that I might actually be stopping. I shan't be doing it again in a hurry though - definitely one of life's lessons On the upside, maybe there is the slight glimmer of hope that next time he's out in his car he might just look a little harder when approaching roundabouts. Then again, perhaps he'll just aim better next time
Who knows? Perhaps he did, perhaps he felt threatened by being forced to stop? Perhaps Grimley is a rather large chap (of SD proportions) and he felt threatened? Or perhaps he just did what Grimley has mentioned elsewhere on this thread, he hit him purely because he didn't really expect him to come to a full stop. -- Lesley CBR600FW SBS#11 (with oak-leaf cluster) BOTAFOT#101A UKRMHRC#12 BONY#54P BOB#18 Real burds don't take hormones, they rage naturally
